3 Popular Hulu Movies and TV Shows to Binge-Watch Now (November 29-30)

In the Disney empire, it’s usually Disney + that gets all of the big movies straight from theaters. But this month, Hulu has Freakier Friday as an early Christmas present to subscribers.

Hulu didn’t wait until after Thanksgiving to unleash its Christmas movies this year, one of which is an all-time classic.

The Christmas film in question is joining Freakier Friday as two out of Watch With Us‘ three picks for the popular Hulu movies and TV shows to binge-watch this weekend.

Our last selection for the week is an animated miniseries on loan from Cartoon Network.

Is Freakier Friday the culmination of the Lohanaissance? That remains to be seen, but for the first time in decades, Lindsay Lohan is a real movie star again, and she’s got a hit under her belt. This sequel to Freaky Friday reunites Jamie Lee Curtis with Lohan, as they play a mother and daughter duo, Tess and Anna Coleman. Decades earlier, Tess and Anna switched bodies and gained new perspectives about each other. They just don’t want to do it again.

In the present, Anna’s a single mother to Harper Coleman (Julia Butters), but she’s planning to marry Eric Reyes (Manny Jacinto), the father of Harper’s rival, Lily Reyes (Sophia Hammons). For spurious reasons, Harper’s mind is transferred to Anna’s body, while Lily’s persona goes to Tess, and vice versa. Anna and Tess want to switch back as soon as possible, but the frenemies see it as a chance to break up Anna’s impending wedding to Eric, so they don’t have to be stepsisters.

Thanks to the annual 24-hour marathons on TNT and TBS, A Christmas Story has become a holiday tradition. If you’ve ever seen the movie, you know exactly what Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) wants for Christmas: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. In the late 1930s, that’s all Ralphie can think about in the run-up to Christmas.

The film is based on a story by author Jean Shepherd, who lends his voice to the flick as an adult Ralphie recounts his formative experiences from the perspective of an adult. Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon star as Ralphie’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parker, and they both bring a lot of humanity and dignity to their roles. This may be Ralphie’s Christmas story, but keep a close eye on the parents as they watch over their son. There’s pure love in their expressions, even when they occasionally have to discipline their son.

Over the Garden Wall is such an amazing dark fantasy story that it’s jaw-dropping and borderline shocking it was ever made at all. Elijah Wood and Collin Dean lend their voices to Wirt and Greg, a pair of half-brothers who are hopelessly lost in a realm called the Unknown. The siblings aren’t clear on how they ended up there, but they know they want to go home.
