4 Mistakes WWE made on SmackDown before Saturday Night's Main Event

Some SmackDown stars were in the Halloween mood while others were not on the eve of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event from Salt Lake City, Utah.R-Truth dressed up as Santa Claus, while Chelsea Green had gear like Snow White. Instead of the usual holiday street fight, this episode of SmackDown opted for decorations instead.Ilja Dragunov continued the string of excellent United States title Open Challenge matches, this time defeating Nathan Frazer in a classic. Tiffany Stratton wanted revenge on Jade Cargill for last week's attack.Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre signed the contract for their title clash on Saturday. WWE made the next four mistakes on SmackDown ahead of Saturday Night's Main Event.#4. Heavily promoting a College Football game during SmackDownThis week's show and this weekend's Saturday Night's Main Event both take place in Salt Lake City, Utah. WWE aired a lot of promotional material for a College Football game this weekend between the Utah Utes and Cincinnati Bearcats.The showdown apparently has "Big 12 Championship" implications, but isn't airing on USA Network this weekend. NXT features commercials for games and sports airing on the CW Network.SmackDown had at least three short segments promoting the game. It also aired pre-recorded footage of a mascot wrestling match before the MFTs faced the Motor City Machine Guns.It felt like WWE went out of its way to promote the game heavily, as if it included wrestlers. One segment would have been more than enough.#3. The Wyatt Sicks are barely visible on SmackDown on HalloweenHalloween is known for many things, including ghosts, goblins, witches, vampires, and other creepy monsters. People love to dress up in costumes and act like someone else for one night.The Wyatt Sicks do that every day as WWE performers, adding to their allure as a unique group of stars. Nikki Cross showed up briefly backstage after Chelsea Green vs. Women's US Champion Giulia was booked for next week.With so much talk of the WWE Tag Team titles, however, the rest of the group was barely visible behind the MFTs as they argued with Rey Fenix. If you blinked, you may have missed them entirely.The MFTs beat the Motor City Machine Guns, Rey Fenix, and Shinsuke Nakamura after their victory. That would have been a perfect time for the group to emerge.#2. Jax never put her hands on The Queen, but the Queen factored into the finish.She got onto the ring apron when Jax went up for her finisher, which distracted The Annihilator. Bliss took advantage, tripping her former friend and pinning her for the win.When Corey Graves asked Michael Cole what he thought about it, he was nearly speechless, simply uttering, "Well, their friendship paid off." If a heel had done the same, Cole would have been screaming at the unfair situation.#1. Drew McIntyre doesn't sign an amended contractDue to his distrust of WWE management and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, Drew McIntyre refused to sign the contract for his Undisputed title match at Saturday Night's Main Event.He claimed that he'd only sign a contract if Cody Rhodes could not retain his title via countout or disqualification, since he's done so in the past. Aldis eventually agreed to the new stipulations at The American Nightmare's behest.The technical issue, however, was that McIntyre didn't get the new clauses in writing and signed the original contract he rejected.It will still likely be honored, but The Scottish Warrior made a big deal about not signing the initial contract, yet signed it in the end.
