Anthony Joshua explains exactly what Jake Paul will experience in fight

Anthony Joshua admits Jake Paul will feel 'immense pressure' in their heavyweight showdown this Christmas. The world of boxing was left stunned earlier this month after reports emerged online that the pair were finalising a deal to meet in the middle of the ring and trade leather next month . Last week, their dust-up was announced - with the two stars set to clash on December 19 in Miami, Florida. Their professional heavyweight bout will be contested over eight three-minute rounds, with both men set to wear 10oz gloves. Paul has not fought since his dominant decision victory over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr back in June, while Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in his last outing in September 2024. After their controversial fight was announced, the two stars met at a launch press conference in Miami. There was no drama, though, as both men were rather cordial with each other. Fans were shocked by the jaw-dropping size disparity after 'AJ' towered over his upcoming rival in an intense stare-down . The boxing fraternity expect an easy night at the office for the former two-time unified world champion, and the man himself admits he is going to hunt his adversary down from minute one. "What he will automatically feel is... imagine if you are on the back-foot and you know this guy who is coming forward is looking to take your head off. So, even when you are not punching, you are feeling immense amount of pressure. And it takes a seasoned athlete to be able to deal with that pressure. Some people want to take a walk. They want to look for space in the ring," he said. "Sometimes fighters will have a silent agreement where it is like 'all right, you are not going to punch and I am not going to punch." And we are just looking at each other. I am not that kind of fighter. I am going to be putting pressure on you even when you are not punching. So, it will be interesting to see how he deals with that type of pressure. And it takes a seasoned type of athlete to know how to deal with that. And boxing is not just the punches you see. It is the fainting, the distance. It's going to be really interesting to see how he deals with the intangibles in the ring. And that is what I said when there's a few things that I am going to do in the ring that he might not have seen before, and I am going to see how he deals with them." Despite the monumental difference in size between both men, Paul does have some slight experience at heavyweight. Last November, the YouTuber-turned-boxer took on legendary boxer Mike Tyson . Despite failing to get the knockout, Paul ended up cruising to a points victory . But his test against Joshua will unquestionably be his toughest challenge yet. A challenge he himself is willing to pay the ultimate price in order to get his hand raised. "No one ever thought that this would be possible, that we would be here when I first started boxing," he said. "No one thinks I’m going to win so join the list and be ready to be shocked. I know that I have the power and the timing. It's the shots you don't see coming, and I'm a tricky knockout artist; he has to be careful. I think it will be a fourth or fifth-round knockout. I'm ready to die to win this fight." Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will clash in Miami on December 19, just six days before Christmas . The pair will likely walk to the ring at around 11pm local time which would be 4am in the UK. Fight times are usually set to benefit the American audience and are subject to change depending on how long the undercard takes to complete. The event is set to be shown live on Netflix .
