Arrest warrant for street seller who attacked a German police officer in Mallorca

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old Senegalese man who failed to appear in court in Palma on a charge of robbery with violence. On September 30 last year, he assaulted a German police officer who was on holiday and stole a chain. The incident occurred around 9.30pm in Arenal. The man approached the tourist and ripped the chain off his neck. When he was asked to give it back, he punched the police officer in the face, knocking him to the ground. The chain was only worth around 20 euros. The tourist needed stitches to a wound above his eye. The Prosecutor's Office is seeking a four-year sentence, which will be suspended and substituted by a deportation order and exclusion from Spanish territory for ten years. He is living illegally in Mallorca and has been working as a street seller in the Arenal area.
