Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku has strongly condemned goalkeeper Mohammed Camara's conduct after being sent off in the club's 1-0 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Camara was given a straight red card for handling the ball outside the penalty area while Kotoko trailed by a goal, and his visible push on the referee after the decision has drawn sharp criticism.
Duku described Camara's reaction as "unsporting and quite unfortunate," emphasizing that such behavior could attract further sanctions from CAF.
"I think the behavior he put up was unsporting and quite unfortunate because it could attract further sanctions from CAF. Sometimes, when players are frustrated, these things happen, but it was not the best way to react. It's bad," he said.
While acknowledging the emotions of playing under pressure, Duku stressed that such actions must be avoided.
"You can understand his frustration playing in front of his die-hard fans, but we condemn it and hope it never happens again," he noted.
Kotoko will travel to Casablanca for the return leg, where they will attempt to overturn the deficit without their first-choice goalkeeper. Despite the setback, the team remains determined to progress to the group stage of the competition
