Bake Off's Laura Adlington welcomes 'miracle' baby boy after 9 years of infertility struggles

Great British Bake Off star Laura Adlington has shared the happy news she has become a mum - welcoming a "miracle" baby boy after nine years of infertility struggles. The 36 year old, who made it to the Bake Off final in 2020 and is now a body positive influencer and author, took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that she and husband Matt are now parents to a son called George. Sharing the sweet first pictures of their little one following his birth, an ecstatic Laura wrote: "After 9 years of wishing and 9 months of waiting – our little miracle is finally here, safe in our arms. Everyone, meet George. "George, meet this community of amazing women who have championed you long before you arrived. We're all doing really well and are happily disappearing into the newborn bubble for a bit. But I just wanted to let you know that he's here and say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the love and support. I've felt it every step of the way." Back in April, Laura shared the news she was pregnant after undergoing IVF . Posing with her scan photos alongside a beaming Matt, she told her followers: "Very excited (and still a bit in shock) to be expecting our little IVF miracle in October. "It's been a really long, and to be honest lonely road to get here - something many of you will know if you've followed me for a while or listened to the podcast." Laura continued: "We'd honestly made peace with the idea that having children might not happen for us. "But about a year and a half ago, we quietly decided to give IVF a try. We kept it to ourselves to avoid any more pressure. We had an unsuccessful round and a cancelled round, and then found out a couple of months ago that I was finally pregnant. "I'll be sharing a bit more over the coming weeks about our journey to get here, but for now we're just really excited to share our news with you all. We honestly can't believe our luck." Friends and fans have sent their well wishes and congratulations to Laura and Matt, with Laura's sister Amy writing: "Oh George. The cutest nephew I ever did see. Zachary's new best friend. P.S You're smashing parenthood!" One fan wrote: "We love you George! Congrats to you lovely pair. Enjoy the bubble. Please sniff him as much as is humanly possible. And take care of yourself Mummy xxx." "Massive congratulations to you both. Welcome to the parent club and being a boy mum," said another. A third commented: "You did it! You made it to the other side. relish these few days you have together just the three of you! Congrats!" A fourth posted: "So so so happy for you all! Can't even imagine the happiness you currently all feel, you both so deserve this. Perfect George!" Paul Hollywood wrote: "Congrats to you both x."
