Bihar Assembly Election results 2025: How is Owaisi’s AIMIM faring in Seemanchal?

As trends of the Bihar Assembly Elections prove the NDA regime will continue in Bihar, all eyes are on Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM and its influence in the Seemanchal region. The party, which won 5 seats in 2020, is learnt to be faring well this time too. The most awaited results are from Kishanganj, the district with the largest Muslim population in Seemanchal. The results of the six seats from Kishanganj - Bahadurganj, Thakurganj, Kishanganj, Kochadhaman, Amour, and Baisi - will have a significant impact on all seats. As per reports, AIMIM candidates are leading from Kochadhaman, Jokihat, Amour, Thakurganj, and Baisi. AIMIM's Ghulam Sarwar is leading by 9,000 votes from the Baisi seat against BJP candidate Vinod Kumar. AIMIM's state president, Akhtarul Iman, is ahead in the Amour seat by 16,000 votes after the 10th round of counting. JDU's Saba Zafar is in second place here. In Kochadhaman, AIMIM candidate Sharwar Alam is leading by 16,547 votes after 12 rounds of counting. RJD's Mujahid Alam is in second place. AIMIM candidate Murshid Alam is leading by 5,984 votes in Araria's Jokihat seat, with JDU's Manzar Alam in second place. AIMIM candidate Ghulam Hasnain is also leading in Kishanganj district's Thakurganj seat. However, the margin is very narrow in this seat. Owaisi's party has fielded candidates in 14 seats this time. That Owaisi lost four of his five MLAs in 2020, soon after the elections to the RJD, is another matter. The state has a Muslim population of approximately 18 percent, which means it should have at least 44 MLAs. Meanwhile, initial trends also hint that NDA has bettered its run in the Seemanchal region, thanks to AIMIM. The Muslim votes, which once used to go to the RJD, began to split towards Owaisi and Prashant Kishor, helping the NDA. While the BJP has not fielded any Muslims from the NDA, the JDU has fielded four, and the LJP has fielded one Muslim.
