Brewers recognize resurgent year for Christian Yelich with prestigious award announcement

Converting to DH this year helped keep him on the field. Yelich played his most games in three years and accumulated his most homers (29) and RBIs (103) since 2019. Both figures led the team by a substantial margin. As for the award winner, Shohei Ohtani is the presumptive favorite for the second straight season, deservedly so. His 1.014 OPS led the NL, his 55 HR ranked second, and he topped all of baseball with 146 runs scored. With 10 nominees per league, fans can vote here. It would be Ohtani’s third consecutive Hank Aaron Award after winning it in the AL in 2023 with the Angels. In the AL this season, Aaron Judge seeks his third plaque in four years. MLB.com describes the honor as follows: “Awarded annually to the best overall offensive performer in both leagues, the award was introduced in 1999 to mark the 25th anniversary of Hank Aaron breaking Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record. A panel of Hall of Famers determines the winners along with a fan vote.” In the award’s 26-year existence, Prince Fielder is the only other Brewer to win.
