Coronation Street star says 'I can't' after being asked about Celebrity Traitors

Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd disclosed he was approached about featuring on Celebrity Traitors. The 37-year-old has portrayed David Platt on the popular ITV soap for more than 25 years. Recently, Jack captured viewers' hearts on Celebrity Big Brother , claiming victory in the 24th series by beating radio host Danny Beard and Dance Moms personality JoJo Siwa. However, Jack, who married wife Hanni Treweek during the summer, revealed why he won't be taking part in the murder-mystery programme The Traitors. Speaking on his On the Sofa podcast, Jack said: "I got asked about Traitors but I can't because it's BBC." Jack's former Coronation Street colleague Colson Smith, who portrayed PC Craig Tinker, believes he would be "very good" on the programme. Though Jack maintains he would be "s**t" at the show. Nick Tilsley performer Ben Price commented: "You'd be good in it Jack. The trick to that, anything like that, is look like you're not a***d." Colson revealed he contacted producer Ros Philips following the Celebrity Traitors cast announcement, praising the line-up. The programme, the inaugural celebrity version, has featured personalities including Jonathan Ross , Alan Carr , Charlotte Church and Celia Imrie . Colson, who has previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother , humorously suggested he'd be up for a stint on the popular show. He shared: "Ros booked it and I sent her a text after the first episode saying, 'Good cast'. And then obviously she was like, 'Brown nose', and I said it was a good cast and, 'P.S. available if you want me'." He continued to heap praise on The Traitors, stating: "Traitors is such an interesting concept and seeing it done with celebrities is so interesting. But they all want to be Traitors." Ben chimed in: "That's the only fun bit. It's not fun not being a Traitor and you go, 'Oh are you a Traitor?'." Celebrity Traitors has been airing on Wednesday and Thursday on BBC One. The series is set to reach a thrilling climax on Thursday, 6 November. Singer Charlotte Church recently spilled the beans about her experience on the show. She confessed to WalesOnline: "It was way more intense than I expected. It has restored my faith in celebrities a little because, generally, I just really keep out of that whole celebrity scene, and I have perhaps been a little bit too harsh in my judgement of celebrities. "It was wonderful to spend time with some really very interesting people. I think that's been my favourite part of the experience. Genuinely, to just be in the company of some extraordinary people with extraordinary stories and minds was the best bit." However, Charlotte admitted she was content with her role as a Faithful. She added: "I was really happy to be a Faithful. "I think even if the Traitors had tried to recruit me, I would have said no. I just don't think I would have been able to hack that level of constant deception. "I think you need to really want it, and you need to be really up on the strategy of the game and working all the angles in order to be a good Traitor. I just didn't want that sort of experience. I wanted a bit of an adventure, something different and a challenge."
