Destiny Udogie revealed as footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent

Destiny Udogie has been named as the Premier League footballer who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent on a north London street. The Tottenham defender was out with a friend on the night of Saturday 6 September when the alleged incident occurred.
Police were called and the agent was detained on suspicion of brandishing the weapon with intent to cause fear of violence. The suspect was also investigated for allegedly blackmailing and making threats against Udogie’s friend. He has not been charged with any offence. There is no suggestion that the agent concerned is Udogie’s agent.
The alleged incident happened during the September international break, when Udogie was not involved with Italy. He has not taken any time out from the game and was back in action for Spurs in their next fixture – the league win at West Ham on 13 September, when he came on as a substitute.

Udogie’s name was first revealed in Italy a few hours before Spurs kicked off their Champions League home game against Copenhagen on Tuesday – with the defender in the starting lineup.
A Spurs spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
The Metropolitan police said they were called at 11.14pm on 6 September to reports a man in his 20s had been threatened with a gun in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.
A spokesperson said: “Officers spoke to the victim and, during the course of their investigation, it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday 8 September on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.”
