The ECHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Toledo Walleye defenseman Colin Swoyer three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions in Saturday’s game vs the Indy Fuel. At the 12:06 mark of the second period, Swoyer came across the ice and delivered a hit to the head of Indy Fuel defenseman Tyson Feist. Swoyer would be assessed a match penalty for an illegal check to the head. He is eligible to return on November 7th vs Kalamazoo Wings. This is a big loss for the Walleye as they lose one of their top defensemen. It’s Swoyer’s first career suspension. If Toledo decides to dress six defensemen, expect Jed Peitilla to make his season debut on Friday Night vs Bloomington. Pietila had two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 59 games last season.
