An Emmerdale star has updated fans to reveal he has successfully undergone surgery for a health issue. Dean Andrews is best known for playing Will Taylor on the ITV soap - a role he held from 2019 until the character was killed off in December last year. Having been off screens for almost a year, the actor has seemingly been using his time to take care of his health. On Friday, he took to social media to reveal he had undergone surgery on his eyes. Taking to Instagram , the Emmerdale star shred a photograph of himself strapped into a seat in a car. Wearing a black golf polo shirt, he had clear protective eye shields plastered onto his face. In an accompanying message, the former soap star wrote: "Eye surgery went ok thankfully." Fans were quick to take to the comments section of Dean's post to with him well. One wrote: "Good news. Get well soon." Another typed: "Hope you have a speedy recovery." And a further fan commented: "Glad to hear your happy with your op. Take care of yourself." Earlier this year, Dean had alarmed fans when he revealed he had been in hospital, receiving surgery for a mystery condition. Without giving away details, the actor shared a photo of himself in a hospital gown and laying in a hospital bed. With two thumbs up, he wrote alongside the image in February: "Surgery went well. Very happy to have woken up. Many thanks to my surgeon Chris and all the staff." Away from acting, Dean is recognised for his voiceover work - having narrated the UK TV documentary series Casualty 24/7 - which has aired since 2018. Since leaving Emmerdale, however, Dean has not made appearances on screen. He previously revealed he loved the ITV soap so much that the writers would have to kill off his character to make him leave - which is what occurred last year. He previously told The Sun: “With other stuff that we do [other acting jobs] we’re there for three to five months or whatever, and then we all disappear and we all go and do other stuff and then we come back. “But here it really, I remember before I came in and hearing people say it’s like a family at Emmerdale and thinking blah, blah, blah, but it really is. “Because we are together. I definitely see Claire more than I see my own wife, and Olivia more than I see my own daughters so we are like a little family. “I do feel settled here. When the producers initially asked me to come in and asked me how long I’d like to stay and I said: ‘If I come in now, you’ll have to kick me out’.” Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
