Ex-FBI Director James Comey's Virginia arraignment bumped up a day

Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The arraignment for ex-FBI Director James Comey has been bumped up a day as the Trump administration because of a busy court docket expected to draw crowds to the courthouse. Comey's initial hearing was set for Thursday but up moved to Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside the nation's capital as the former FBI chief to both Republican and Democratic U.S. presidents faces two felony count accusations. The federal judge in the case reportedly moved the hearing up a day due to other high-profile cases ongoing expected to draw large courthouse crowds. Comey, 64, was finally indicted September 25 by a federal grand jury in Virginia after Trump's Department of Justice searched for jury members willing to indict Comey despite Trump-appointed Special Counsel John Durham conceding that no such rational evidence existed. It was reported that an FBI agent was suspended after a refusal to participate in a planned "perp walk" for the media by the administration. Comey has been charged with one count on obstruction of a congressional proceeding, and one for issuing an alleged false statement to Congress related to 2020 testimony.
