Lebanese Army: Israeli Ground Incursion is Blatant Violation of Lebanon's Sovereignty

Beirut, October 30 (QNA) - The Lebanese army stressed that the Israeli ground incursion into the south of the country is a criminal act, a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty, and a breach of the cessation of hostilities agreement and Resolution 1701. In a statement on Thursday, the Lebanese army indicated that an enemy ground unit belonging to the Israeli entity infiltrated the town of Blida in the Marjayoun district, opened fire on the municipality building, and targeted one of its employees, leading to his death. The Lebanese army considered that what the Israeli entity did comes in the context of its continuous attacks on innocent citizens, adding that the flimsy claims and pretexts by the enemy are false and have no relation to the truth, but rather aim to justify its violations against Lebanon and its citizens. The army command requested the Cessation of Hostilities Implementation Mechanism to put an end to the ongoing Israeli violations, noting that the command is following up on these violations in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Earlier today, Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun asked Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal to have the army confront any Israeli incursion into the liberated southern territories, in defense of Lebanese territory and the safety of citizens.
