I wouldn't be too shocked if what was stolen were synthetic simulacrums of the the crown jewels and the real deal are hidden in a in concourse E of the Tangier Abn Battouta airport beside the Cinnabon.

The French do love their hats. They even have their own word for it: Chapeau.

The best part, to me, is that the dad is also wearing a hat. You can't make this up, the ancestors had a sense of humor.

I'm into minerology and gemstone and while I respect the craftmanship of gem cutters and lapidarists it just breaks to the unrealized potential of a stone irrevocably unchanged, Raw or bust like Chef Raekwon

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for tighter security at the museum since the theft.
Oh, well, then you're on top of it. Well done.

I bet the thief was an Italian painter with brain damage from the lead in the paint he used.

There were jokes about how security hasn't improved since that Italian frame maker swipped the Mona Lisa. He's lucky the Florence judge was sympathetic, the French were still guillotining people til the 60s. He got 7 months.
Really put the louvre on the map though. First meme piece of art.

Have you seen how terrible the gem craft is in these antique jewels?
Modern gemcraft is just sooo much better than what they managed centuries ago. You'd be arrested today if you took those huge caret gems and did such an awful job cutting and setting them.
