Pawan Kalyan Orders Restoration Of Power Supply On A War Footing

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has been closely monitoring the impact of Cyclone Montha through continuous field-level updates from officials across the affected districts. Officials briefed him on reports received from the collectors of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, and Tirupati districts after the cyclone made landfall at midnight, bringing fierce winds and heavy rain. Taking note of the extensive damage, Pawan directed officials to restore power supply on a war footing, as uprooted trees and snapped cables had disrupted electricity in several areas. Although the cyclone has weakened, he instructed that people should remain in safe shelters until weather conditions stabilise. The deputy Chief minister stressed that those housed in rehabilitation centres must continue to receive food and basic amenities. He cautioned against sending them home prematurely due to ongoing strong winds and intermittent downpours. Officials were instructed to clearly communicate the prevailing situation to the public. Pawan also alerted the administration about rising water levels in the Gundlakamma river in Prakasam district and the Penna River in Nellore district, urging precautionary measures in low-lying areas. Once the rainfall subsides, he directed local bodies to undertake sanitation drives and ensure the supply of safe drinking water.
