Subranyville residents press city again over Farnum Ground works

The ongoing dispute between residents of Subryanville and the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) over the construction of a private school on a section of the community playground was replayed yesterday during the council’s statutory meeting, where residents pressed for transparency and proof of ownership related to the controversial development. The meeting at the Kitty Market, chaired by Mayor Alfred Mentore, followed a series of earlier engagements between the council, residents, and representatives of the developer, businessman David Sugrim, who is constructing a new facility for the Mae’s Schools group. The proposed building is located on a section of land traditionally used as a recreational area by the community. According to the Mayor, recent discussions on the issue date back to September 10, when the matter was first raised at a City Works Committee meeting, and again on September 15, when a larger community meeting was held with residents of Subryanville.
