Two held for attempt to smuggle mosquito repellent incense sticks to Sri Lanka

Ramanathapuram police arrested two men here on Sunday morning for attempting to smuggle 12 cartons of mosquito repellent incense sticks to Sri Lanka via boat. Police said, when Q branch police inspector Janaki along with her team were patrolling Cherankottai coastal area, they noticed two men trying to unload parcels from a vehicle. The police team learnt that there were 720 boxes of mosquito repellent incense sticks which they were planning to smuggle into Sri Lanka. D. Muneeshkumar, 21, and S. Eswaramoorthy, 27, of Rameswaram, were secured by the police team. Upon investigating, they learned 12 cartons of mosquito repellent incense sticks were brought to the coast to smuggle them illegally to Sri Lanka via boat. They had already hidden the goods near the coast and they had planned to use their own unregistered fiberglass boat, which was moored near Arichalmunai, to load the goods and transport them to Sri Lanka. Following this, they were arrested and the products were seized and handed over to the Customs Department.
