Canada was stronger in their commitment to the run scoring despite Kevin Amuge picking a wicket in the first over. Canada was more solid in their attack and they upped the attack in the final five overs with a 42-run partnership between Captain Amarpul Kaur (30 not out) and Terisha Lavia (19) getting them to 83/6 in their 20 overs. In the run chase, Uganda was rattled when Canada made early inroads into their batting line-up. Janet Mbabazi was caught at short mid-wicket and Esther Iloku took a needless run and was caught short of her ground. Kevin Awino was caught off a blinder when she was still on zero, leaving Uganda railing at 7/3. Immaculate Nakisuyi (37) dug deep to anchor the innings with Proscovia Alako (12 not out) and Stephanie Nampiina (13) added some flourish at the end to ensure the result by four wickets. The Canadian ladies put in an improved performance with both bat and ball and on a very heavy outfield, it was difficult to score boundaries for any of the teams. Canada’s performance shows that they will continue growing into the series with each game day. The teams take a break tomorrow (Wednesday) and will be back in action on Thursday for Game 3.
