Rupee gains 01 paisa against US Dollar

Advertisement - ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):The Rupee on Thursday appreciated by 01 paisa against the US Dollar in interbank trading and closed at Rs 280.76 compared to the previous day’s closing of Rs 280.77. According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the Dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs 281.5 and Rs 281.8, respectively. The price of the Euro increased by Rs1.05 to close at Rs 326.19, up from the previous day’s close of Rs 325.14, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs 1.81, whereas the exchange rate of the British Pound witnessed a decrease of 08 paisa and closed at Rs 369.03 compared to the previous day’s Rs 369.11. The exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham came down by 01 paisa to close at Rs 76.43 and the Saudi Riyal stood stagnant at Rs 74.86.

Advertisement - KARACHI, Nov 13 (APP):Five ships, Hansa Africa, MSC Lusia, Venus Halo, Khasab Silver and Common Faith scheduled to load/offload Container, Cement, Palm oil and Coal, berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal-2, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, Meanwhile five more ships, MSC Olia, Banglar Agradoot, Falcon Royal, Horizon-1 and Kaisa-1 carrying Container, Palm oil, Mogas and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage during last 24 hour. A total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them three ships, BBC Ruby, Aquavita Bay and MSC Luisa left the port on Thursday morning, while two more ships, Hansa Africa and Zervos are expected to sail on Thursday. Cargo volume of 202,069 tonnes, comprising 153,418 tonnes imports cargo and 48,651 export cargo carried in 5,625 Containers (3,792 TEUs Imports &1,833 TEUs Export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours. There are 20 ships at Outer Anchorage of the Port Qasim, out of them five ships, MSC Olia, Manta Sena, Khairpur, Kaisa-1 and Horizon-I carrying Container, Sugar, Gas oil and LPG are expected to take berths at QICT, MW- 2, FOTCO, EVTL and SSGC on Thursday.

Car sales soar 39%, production jumps 70% in first four months of FY2025-26

Advertisement - ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):The sale and production of cars in the country witnessed an increase of 39.85 and 70.88 percent respectively during the first four months of the current financial year 2025-26 as compared to the corresponding period of last year. During the July-October 2025-26, as many as 42,831 cars were sold against the sale of 30,625 units while the production of cars increased from 29,977 units to 51,226 units, showing growth of 39.85 and 70.88 percent respectively, said Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA). Among sale of cars, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris cars sale also grew by 70.81 percent from 6,655 units to 11,368 units while the sale of Honda cars witnessed a surged of 37.11 percent from 4,424 units during last year to 6,066 units during current year. Suzuki Swift sales went up from 1,999 units to 4,568 units, showing an increase of 128.51 percent whereas the sale of Hyundai Elantra increased to 742 units from 308 units. The sale of Hyundai Sonata also surged by 14.68 percent from 198 units to 227 units during the months under review whereas the sale of Suzuki Cultus increased to 1,680 units from 629 units. The sale of Suzuki Alto increase to 16,169 units from 12,723 during last year, the PAMA added. Meanwhile, 115 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during July-October 2025. On the other hand, the production of Honda cars went up by 53.02 percent from 4,200 units to 6,427 units during the months under review whereas the production of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris cars also increased by 66.59 percent from 6,972 units to 11,615 units, the PAMA revealed. The production of Suzuki Swift also rose from 2,602 units to 4,711 units, showing increase of 81.05 percent whereas the production of Hyundai Elantra increased to 1,152 units from 330 units. The production of Hyundai Sonata also increased from 269 units to 337 units during the months under view while the production of Suzuki Cultus increased to 1,548 units during the months under review from 581 units. The production of Suzuki Alto also rose from 11,554 units last year to 23,760 units, witnessing increase of 105.64 percent, the data added. Meanwhile, 95 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were manufactured in July-October 2025.
