EastEnders fans urge BBC bosses to make urgent 'change' as Ben and Stuart return

EastEnders has unveiled the dramatic comeback of Ben Mitchell and Stuart Highway, leaving a stunned Callum in their wake. In Monday's visit to Walford (October 6), notorious bad boy Ben (Max Bowden) was seen in a police cell, with pictures of his husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay) prominently displayed on the wall. Currently serving time for credit card fraud, he seemed eager to break free from his confinement. Meanwhile, back on the Square, Callum found solace in his lover Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) as they faced the day of his father's funeral. However, their secret affair was blown wide open when they were caught kissing in The Queen Vic by none other than Ben's mum Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth). Callum attempted to justify his actions to Johnny, blaming his infidelity on Ben's incarceration. As Callum and the Mitchells bickered over his affair, Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) made his entrance in a black taxi. Unfazed by his cheating scandal, Callum confessed his unfaithfulness to a protective Stuart, who didn't hesitate to rib his brother about the prospects of his new romance, reports OK! As Stuart and Callum, accompanied by Johnny, prepared to bid farewell to their father, a car pulled up at the graveside. Ben emerged from the vehicle, a broad grin plastered across his face as he arrived for his father-in-law's final farewell, leaving Callum utterly gobsmacked. As both characters make a welcome, EastEnders have been demanding that the pair's return is permanent, as they are only appearing for brief stints. In August 2022, Stuart and Rainie bid adieu to Walford, hoping for a fresh start with their son Roland, far from the Square's turmoil. Two years on, in March 2024, Ben also said his goodbyes to the Square after being nicked for credit fraud committed stateside. On X, one fan demanded: "SO GLAD MAX IS BACK EVEN IF IT IS JUST FOR A SHORT STINT, ONE EASTENDERS' BEST ACTORS BY FAR! Bring him back permanently." Another pleaded: "Bring Ben back for good". A third joined in: "Please let Stuart stay @bbceastenders #EastEnders. "Stuart love him #Eastenders", declared one fan, while another chimed in: "Get Ben back permanently." EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
