Nine fours, four sixes: Vaibhav Suryavanshi falls just short of rapid maiden first-class century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits maiden first-class fiftyAfter no play was possible on the first two days in Patna, Meghalaya made 408 for 7 before declaring their first innings. Ajay Duhan (129) and Swastic Chettri (94) were the chief contributors, while an unbeaten 62-ball 60 from No.9 Akash Chowdhary added valuable lower-order runs.Bihar got to bat only 25 overs on the final day, but that was enough for the swashbuckling southpaw Suryavanshi to leave his mark on the match. Playing in his free-flowing style, he brought up his fifty off just 33 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. It was his first fifty-plus score in first-class cricket; he had come into the match with only 114 runs from 11 innings at an average of 10.36 since making his debut in January last year.Having finally found his rhythm in the format, Suryavanshi continued to press on the accelerator and looked well set for his maiden century.
