Maryland man leaves the gym, wins $31,118.30 lottery prize

Oct. 7 (UPI) -- A Maryland man made a quick stop on his way home from the gym and scored a $31,118.30 prize from the Maryland Lottery's Racetrax virtual horse racing game. The Calvert County man told Maryland Lottery officials he had just finished his workout at the gym when he decided to stop at the 7-Eleven on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie to buy some lottery tickets. The man placed a Superfecta Box bet with the numbers 9, 7, 11 and 12. He scored a $31,118.30 prizr when the numbers came up 7, 9, 11 and 12 in the Aug. 29 race. "I almost hit it straight. That would have given me over $200,000," the winner said. The man, who has been using the same number set for years, said his prize money will go toward paying bills and taking a family vacation.
