“Think Before You Link: Weigh Up The Whats And Whys” – ADR Expert

Mary Bright Abelenma Coffie, a multifaceted professional with expertise in fashion design, youth counselling, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), has advised the public to exercise caution when entering relationships by weighing up the fundamental aspects. In an exclusive interview with host Nana Asabea on Plan B FM's social and lifestyle programme, 'Nyansapɔ Fie', Auntie May, as she is affectionately known, elucidated that: "When entering a relationship, do not be swayed by superficial charms. Look beyond the surface and consider the person's true character. Ask yourself: What am I bringing to the table? What is the purpose of this relationship? What are the potential consequences of our union?" She further advised: "Reflect on why you need this relationship and whether your values align. When your values match, the relationship can weather any storm. Be prepared for the ups and downs, and prioritise compatibility over fleeting attractions. Consider the long-term implications and be ready to navigate challenges together." Her advice underscores the importance of substance over superficiality, self-reflection, and compatibility in relationships. By: Longman/Planbfmonline.com

Paul Afoko Plots Political Return; Eyes NPP Chairmanship Once Again

Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has officially declared his intention to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position in the upcoming national officers’ election. In a statement titled “Declaration of Intention to Contest the National Chairmanship Position of the New Patriotic Party,” Mr. Afoko said his decision follows extensive reflection and encouragement from party members and stakeholders who are calling for renewed leadership within the NPP. “After extensive reflection and encouragement from many well-meaning members, supporters, and stakeholders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), I am honoured to formally announce my intention to contest for the position of National Chairman in the upcoming election of national officers,” he stated. He explained that his decision was motivated by a desire to return the NPP to its founding values and democratic principles. “This decision has not been taken lightly. It comes after careful consideration and in response to the consistent calls for renewed leadership rooted in the founding values and democratic ideals of our Party,” he said. Mr. Afoko reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP despite past challenges and said his focus remains on rebuilding and strengthening the party. “While the journey has not been without its trials, I have always chosen to prioritise the unity and progress of the NPP above all else. My focus now, as it has always been, is on the future — one where our Party stands re-energised, inclusive, and better positioned to deliver on its promise to the Ghanaian people.” He added that in the coming weeks, he will engage with party faithful and the media to outline his vision and leadership plans. “In the coming weeks, I will engage more broadly with Party faithful and the media to share my vision, ideas, and plans to lead the NPP with integrity, transparency, and a renewed sense of purpose. Let us look ahead together.” Paul Afoko was suspended in 2015 as the NPP’s National Chairman following a decision by the party’s National Executive Committee at an emergency meeting held at the party headquarters in Accra. The suspension followed a recommendation from the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee after the Council of Elders, in a seven-page petition, called for disciplinary action against him. Mr. Afoko was accused by some party members of working against the then-flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo’s chances ahead of the 2016 general elections. He reportedly failed to honour multiple invitations from the Disciplinary Committee before the recommendation for his suspension was made.

Court Rescinds Arrest Order As Chairman Wontumi Finally Appears Before Judge

The High Court has withdrawn the bench warrant it issued earlier for the arrest of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. The decision followed his appearance in court shortly after the warrant was issued. The warrant, issued around 9:40 a.m., remained active until Wontumi and his legal team arrived after 10 a.m. to plead with the court for its withdrawal. It was officially rescinded at 11:39 a.m. When the case was recalled, counsel for Chairman Wontumi, Andy Appiah-Kubi, explained that he had informed his client to appear at 10 a.m. under the impression that proceedings were scheduled for a case management conference at that time. The presiding judge, while rescinding the arrest order, cautioned the NPP chairman to be punctual in future appearances. Chairman Wontumi is standing trial alongside Kwame Antwi, a director of Akonta Mining Limited, and the company itself. They are facing charges of assigning mineral rights without lawful authorisation.

Madagascar Revokes Citizenship Of Former President After Ouster

Former Madagascan President Andry Rajoelina, who was ousted in a coup last week, has been stripped of his citizenship by the new regime. The order, signed by new Prime Minister Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo, cited local laws stipulating that people who acquired foreign citizenship should lose their Malagasy nationality.Rajoelina, 51, obtained French citizenship a decade ago, prompting calls for his disqualification from the 2023 presidential election. But he defied those calls and went on to win.He fled the African island nation after weeks of protests over persistent power and water shortages, culminating in a military takeover led by Col Michael Randrianirina.Rajoelina has said he has gone into hiding for his own safety, and his whereabouts remain unclear. When he disclosed his French nationality months before Madagascar's last presidential election, he argued he had only secretly acquired it to make things easier for his children studying in France. In recent weeks, he had faced demonstrations initially organised by youth movement Gen Z Mada and inspired by similar anti-government protests in Nepal, which were only exacerbated when his government responded with violence.Rajoelina sacked his energy minister and then his government - but this did little to quell the calls for him to step down.Protesters had hoped that Rajoelina would resign to pave the way for a smooth, democratic transition.Instead, he clung to power, eventually leading to Madagascar's elite military unit, of which Randrianirina was chief, to seize power. He has now been sworn in and has formed a new government, pledging to hold elections within two years.

Gov’t Ruins “Perfect” School Placement System — NPP’s Richard Anning Fires

Richard Anning, an NPP communicator for Tema Central, has criticized the current government for mismanaging the high school placement system, describing the situation as unprecedented in the last eight years. According to him, the NPP had been running a system that was “almost perfect,” ensuring fair and transparent placement for students. However, he alleged that the current administration has reset the system, resulting in misplaced postings — including able-bodied students being sent to special needs schools. Mr. Anning also accused some Members of Parliament (MPs) and Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) of manipulating the process to favor their relatives. “What has happened this year in the school system has never happened in the last eight years. And today, you say you suspend three heads of institutions? It’s funny,” he stated on Nkosuo Nsem. By: Daniel (Blutut Africa)/Planbfmonline.com

High Court Rejects Justice Torkornoo’s New Application, Says Request Cannot Be Granted

The controversy surrounding Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has intensified as the High Court has reportedly turned down her latest legal application, ruling that the relief she requested could not be granted. Justice Torkornoo, who has been at the center of public debate since her contentious dismissal, filed a fresh motion seeking to challenge portions of the decision that affected her status. However, according to reports, the High Court found her application lacking in both procedural compliance and legal merit, declaring that the court lacked the authority to act on her specific demands at this juncture. Delivering the ruling, the presiding judge was quoted as saying, “We cannot do what you are asking for,” effectively blocking her latest attempt to reopen the matter. The court’s decision has triggered another wave of discussion in Ghana’s legal and political landscape, with commentators describing it as a major blow to her legal fight for reinstatement. Legal expert Martin Kpebu, reacting to the development, explained that although the ruling represents a temporary defeat, Justice Torkornoo still has options available, including possible appeals to higher judicial bodies. He cautioned, however, that each legal route ahead poses significant procedural and strategic obstacles. The case has evolved into one of Ghana’s most closely followed legal sagas, reflecting deep concerns about judicial independence, political interference, and the rule of law. While her supporters see the High Court’s stance as politically influenced, her critics insist it reaffirms the fairness of the legal process and the principle of accountability. Justice Torkornoo’s team has yet to issue an official reaction, though insiders suggest that they remain steadfast and plan to announce their next course of action soon. Meanwhile, the ruling has reignited partisan tensions, with both the NPP and NDC seizing on the case to advance competing political arguments, ensuring that the controversy remains far from over.

Unchecked Defiance Sparks Rebellion” – Rev Manful

The Head Pastor of Global Ark of Grace Chapel, Reverend Sam Manful, has revealed that unchecked defiance sparks rebellion and must be worked on. In an interview with hostess Nana Asabea on Plan B FM's social and lifestyle programme, "Nyansapɔ Fie", he revealed that "the rebellion spirit is as sinful as witchcraft." Defiance, he says, originated from the devil who first defied God's instructions and led to rebellion. "Anything that resists authority in schisms, workplaces, churches, amongst others, is defiance which, when not checked, leads to rebellion. There could be emotional defiance which needs to be dealt with emotionally and not spiritually." He added, "Although not all defiance is a sin, the negative ones need to be checked so as not to lead to rebellion and open the spiritual door for spiritual forces that harm people." On her side, renowned speaker and Creative Director of Kess Millinery and Beads, Lady Elizabeth Kesewaa Nortey, attributed the cause of defiance to uncontrolled emotional imbalance, which sometimes roots from jealousy, pride, and the like, as Satan did. "Bleaching to attain the skin colour of others is also a defiance that leads to rebellion against the Creator, and vice versa." Mary Bright Abelenma Coffie, a fashion designer, youth counsellor, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) expert, said such people like to cause nuisance and put people's heads against each other, which doesn't yield positive results. "They unknowingly or knowingly, unconsciously or consciously do so, which doesn't help." By: Longman/Planbfmonline.com

Fast-Track Corruption Cases To Restore Public Confidence – George Asabre To Attorney General

An NDC Communicator for the Ashaiman Constituency, George Asabre, has commended the Attorney General for his cautious and thorough approach in handling corruption-related cases. He noted that from the very beginning, the Attorney General made it clear that he would not rush through any case but would ensure that investigations were well-grounded with solid evidence before prosecution. Reacting to the recent development where the former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware, has been charged with stealing, Mr. Asabre said the move shows that the Attorney General has gathered credible evidence to proceed confidently. “Ghanaians have been worried because many corruption cases come up and eventually fade away. But now that the Attorney General has taken his time and brought this charge, I believe he has strong proof,” Mr. Asabre remarked. He further expressed optimism that the Attorney General will take steps to fast-track this particular case, while urging that other corruption cases should also be handled swiftly to rebuild public trust in the justice system. Attorney General Must Retrieve All Stolen Funds In NSA Scandal – Hajia Hamdatu

Government must ensure that the supposedly embezzled funds from the National Service Authority (NSA) secretariat by former officials are reclaimed, says former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim Hussein. She urged the Attorney General, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to investigate the matter thoroughly and hold all individuals involved in the case accountable and ensure they pay for their offense. Madam Hamdatu said this in a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and described the matter as a serious and national calamity that should be treated without any partisanship. “Why should we take loans from International Monetary Fund (IMF) when people are stealing state funds,” she asked and reiterriated her position that individuals found guilty should not go scot-free. She used the platform and schooled Ghanaians, most especially, those appointed to serve in public sectors to be due deligent by serving wholeheartedly and help develop the nation. “People tend to abuse the opportunity they are given to steal money from the state,” Hajia Hamdatu said and added that “they should prioritize the nation instead of focusing on acquiring wealth illegally from the state.” She further questioned why there are still ghost names in the National Service Scheme (NSS), when the NSA had claimed that all ghost names were eliminated from the system following the introduction of Ghana card as part of the registration process.
