Letters, Nov. 15, 2025: 'Carney isn't working for Canada'

NORM KALMANOVITCH (There is no room for divided loyalties when you are the PM) Highway nightmare Raising speed limits on Alberta highways is a bad idea. Most of the highways in this province are reaching capacity. Highway 2 between Calgary and Edmonton is a nightmare at times. Too many cars and big trucks fighting for every square inch of pavement. Most drivers are reaching their skill limit driving these roads. Upping the speed limits will only cause more collisions and fatalities. Highway 2 needs to have four lanes each way between Calgary and Edmonton. Forget the train. Fix the roads. ANDY HANSEN (The QE2 certainly seems to be bursting at the seams at times) Are we talking about the same 300-plus ostriches the owners profess to be so in love with along with everyone else as well? The same ostriches that were going to be slaughtered for meat, feathers and leather hand bags anyway and to be sold? Geez, people, give your heads a shake. Yes, it is a shame, but many of these birds were with Avian flu, which is contagious. Individuals with university degrees and with a specialization in biological sciences, chemistry, and related natural, physical, and applied sciences are certainly more qualified than most of the respondents on FB and local letters that are just getting on the bandwagon without all the facts. I suggest people get all the facts before they start whining and snivelling about something they know little or nothing about. And I will add this: All those ignorant, selfish people who posted comments and pictures of these birds wrapped in the Canadian flag on and around Remembrance Day should be ashamed of themselves. Nov. 11th is to remember those poor souls who gave their lives in order that we might live in peace and harmony. You are a disgrace. IAN MACLEAN, Kelowna, B.C. (The ostrich cull certainly ignited people’s emotions)
