Roy Keane says 'weak' Liverpool are in CRISIS after Man City defeat

Roy Keane believes Liverpool are in crisis after slamming them as “really weak” against Manchester City . The Reds were torn apart by their former title rivals at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland gave City the lead having already missed a penalty, while Virgil van Dijk ’s equaliser was ruled out for offside. Nico Gonzalez doubled the lead with a deflected effort, while the impressive Jeremy Doku rounded off the scoring in the second half. The reverse represented Liverpool’s fifth of the campaign, having only suffered four throughout the entirety of last term. It also leaves them eighth and already eight points behind current leaders Arsenal . In assessing Liverpool’s current form, Keane claims that Arne Slot ’s side are now in a full-blown crisis. Speaking on Sky Sports , he said: “I think it is crisis time for Liverpool. They know they can be beaten at Man City, we know it’s a tough place to come and Man City they are showing signs at being back to their very best. “But to lose seven in 10 and five league losses already this season. It has to be a crisis for a club like Liverpool. “I thought his assessment of the game today was spot on. I think it was fair, yes the decision went against them but overall, City looked stronger, technically better and they looked much better physically than Liverpool today. “I thought Liverpool were a really weak team today. They still had moments of course, they’ve got that quality, they can still cause teams problems. “But defensively, the goals they’re giving away, the decision making. I go back to that word, lack of intensity, lack of energy. They’re chopping and changing, bringing subs on but they just looked really flat. What's gone wrong for Liverpool this season? Share your thoughts in the comments below “I know Gary mentioned there that the manager was pleased with the second-half but the game was over. The game was over. It’s very easy to play when you’re two or three-nil down when the other team has taken their foot off the gas. They’ve got Forest after the international break and Forest are fighting for their lives.” Defeat against Forest could really make things uncomfortable for Liverpool and Slot. It could potentially put them in the lower half of the Premier League and given the huge funds that the Reds spent in the transfer window, that would represent an awful return for the club. Ruben Amorim issues worrying Benjamin Sesko injury update after star forced off

Ruben Amorim has revealed that Benjamin Sesko will undergo tests for a potential knee injury as the injury woes pile up for Manchester United . The Red Devils endured a bruising afternoon in North London on Saturday as they played out a dramatic 2-2 draw with Spurs , with Matthijs de Ligt nodding home a stoppage time equaliser. Bryan Mbeumo had given United the lead, only for goals from Mathys Tel and Richarlison to turn the game on its head. And while there was drama on the pitch, there were also some headaches off of it, Defender Harry Maguire was taken off with an injury, while summer signing Benjamin Sesko lasted less than 30 minutes as he too was substituted with an issue, having been introduced in the second-half. Speaking after the game, Amorim confirmed that United’s medical staff would keep a close eye on him, with the striker having picked up a suspected knee injury. He said: “We have to check, he had something in his knee. We have to see.” The United boss added: “Because it’s the knee we never know [how serious the injury is]. We need Ben to be a better team.” Sesko joined United for big-money from RB Leipzig in the summer and he has since scored two goals for the club. His injury comes amid Amorim’s claim that he was the club’s striker for the foreseeable future. Asked about his form, the United boss said: “Yeah, I'm relaxed – he’s not relaxed. What I mean is that I understand how things are in football and he's going to struggle. “That is normal. He has no experience here, and then the first impact when everyone says that you are so good, you are the next big thing, and you hear about that with Sesko, and then you come to one club that is the hardest club. If you don't perform every week, you are going to hear a lot of things from club legends, from pundits, from the media, and sometimes they are right. How much would a blow Sesko's injury be? Share your thoughts in the comments below “To have the ability to understand that is normal and still maintain your level of confidence is really hard for a young kid, especially for a young kid that is a control freak, wants to control everything, and he's not going to control everything. “So, I know, and I say that when I start training with Ben, he has more potential than I was thinking. He’s going to struggle, and we need to understand how he likes to play also to put in our ideas. “So, [with] everything, I think I'm quite relaxed with that. He is going to be our striker for the long term. But he's going to have these struggles and these bumps during the ride, and that is a normal thing in football.” Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Alan Shearer sticks the boot in on Man Utd AND Tottenham after dramatic draw

Alan Shearer has slammed Manchester United and Tottenham for a “poor” game that was “lacking quality”. The two sides came together at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon and fought to a dramatic draw. Red Devils star Bryan Mbeumo had given his side the lead in the first-half, with Mathys Tel and Richarlison seemingly sealing three points for Tottenham late on. But Matthijs De Ligt nodded home a brilliant stoppage time header to secure a share of the points. Despite the drama, Shearer was not particularly convinced with the performances of each side. Speaking to Match of the Day, the former Newcastle star said: “A draw was probably a fair result in the end. But the standard of football was pretty poor for both teams. “The substitutes made a difference for Spurs but not for Manchester United. The visitors going down to 10 men after Benjamin Sesko’s injury definitely didn’t help. “But the quality was lacking, especially for two sides that could have gone second in the league if they had won today.” Man United boss Ruben Amorim gave his verdict on the game shortly after the full-time whistle and claimed that his side should actually have secured victory. He said: "During the game we felt like the three points were there to take home. “But then with everything that happened, Harry Maguire and Casemiro coming off and conceding two goals... we scored again and it's a point. "When you cannot win you don't lose, once again we did that. We have so much to grow as a team, because today was our day to win this game. Who was man-of-the-match between Man United and Arsenal? Share your thoughts in the comments below "We need to look at ourselves, we were not pressing with the same intensity, we felt comfortable but we need to understand that if we had more bravery we kill the game. But sometimes this happens, you have a better first half than second. We believe in our capacity to score goals until the last minute." Saturday’s draw leaves Spurs third in the table ahead of the November international break, albeit they could have been above Manchester City had they held on for victory. Meanwhile, United sit seventh, having recovered from their poor start to the season. Amorim’s side are back in action in a fortnight’s time as they host Everton at Old Trafford. Spurs’ next assignment pits them against North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
