Why Browns’ Shedeur Sanders is inactive vs. Patriots

Shedeur Sanders might be the most polarizing player in the NFL today. Despite his current status as the Cleveland Browns’ backup quarterback, the rookie has seemingly an equal number of avid fans and die-hard detractors. Many are monitoring the Browns’ QB situation, waiting to see if Sanders will step in at any point. That point will not be in Week 8. The Browns are listing Shedeur Sanders as inactive for their Week 8 tilt against the New England Patriots, per Adam Schefter. “Browns QB Shedeur Sanders, listed as questionable for today due to a back injury, is inactive vs. the Patriots.” More to come shortly.

Packers’ Matthew Golden, Christian Watson good to go vs. Steelers

The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver room will be at close to full strength in their Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Facing off against Aaron Rodgers this week, Jordan Love will have almost all of his pass catchers available. Matthew Golden will be available to play after suffering a hip injury. Meanwhile, Christian Watson is set to make his season debut this week, per Ian Rapoport. “#Packers WR Matthew Golden, listed as questionable with a hip injury, is expected to play today,” Rapoport posted. “He’ll join Christian Watson, who was activated Saturday from PUP and will play.” Golden, the Packers’ first-round pick this season, popped up on the injury report with a hip injury. He played in their last game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7, catching all four of his targets for 37 yards. While he’s yet to find the end zone this seaosn, Golden has been a pretty solid addition to the Packers’ offensive attack this season. Watson, meanwhile, will be making his season debut this season. He suffered a torn ACL in the final game of the 2024 season, but has made a shockingly fast return to the field. He had 620 receiving yards last season, and he figures to be another prominent name in the Packers’ passing game this season. Watson and Golden will join Romeo Doubs, Dontavion Wicks, and Tucker Kraft as the Packers’ primary pass-catchers this season. Green Bay is also not operating at full strength, as their WR1 Jayden Reed is still on the injured reserve list. Regardless, with head coach Matt LaFleur’s schemes, every wide receiver should be able to eat. The Packers will be facing off against an awfully familiar foe. Rodgers was the face of Green Bay for most of the 2010s and the early 2020s. Now, he’s leading the Steelers to an early divison lead. It’s a faceoff between student and master as Jordan Love takes on his former mentor.

Jaguars rumors: Brian Thomas Jr. trade calls aren’t resulting in an immediate hang-up

We’re seven games into the 2025 NFL season, and no one knows anything about the Jacksonville Jaguars so far. They’ve had some impressive performances, yes, but they’ve also played head-scratching football in that stretch. One of the biggest reasons for the confusion around the Jaguars is their shaky offensive production. One of the biggest reasons behind the Jaguars’ inconsistency on offense is Brian Thomas Jr’s regression. After an excellent final stretch of games in 2024, many expected the second-year wideout to take a big leap this season. However, Thomas has struggled in spurts this season and has dealt with injuries as well. He’s had problems catching the ball, sporting one of the worst drop rates in the league. Thomas Jr is still in his second year, so there’s room to believe that the Jaguars wide receiver will still improve over the course of his career. Still, that has apparently not stopped Jacksonville from exploring its options at the upcoming trade deadline. Dianna Russini said in her report for The Athletic that “The Jaguars are listening on calls for WR Brian Thomas Jr., even if a move feels highly unlikely.” Drafted in the first round by the Jaguars in 2024, Brian Thomas Jr was one of the biggest standouts last season for the team. He had 1,282 receiving yards last season and ten touchdowns, planting himself firmly in Offensive Rookie of the Year talks last season. Thomas Jr was hyped up to be one of the best young wide receivers in the league. A breakout 2025 campaign seemed all but guaranteed. However, Thomas Jr has not played up to his potential this season. He currently has the most drops in the NFL (nine drops according to Pro Football Reference) and has the second-highest drop rate in the league at 16.4%. His struggles catching the ball in the middle of the field has hindered the Jaguars’ offense greatly this season. The Jaguars’ offensive struggles aren’t solely on Thomas Jr: Trevor Lawrence’s accuracy has not been good as well. Still, when your supposed number one receiver is struggling this badly, it puts significant strain on the offense. The Jaguars are on a bye week this week.

NFL investigating Ravens’ shady Lamar Jackson injury tactics

The Baltimore Ravens are in hot water. Star quarterback Lamar Jackson was out for the last two weeks due to a hamstring injury he suffered back in Week 4. It seemed like the former MVP was on track to return to the field this week, as he participated during the team’s practice and was listed as “active”. In a surprising twist, though, the Ravens ruled Lamar Jackson out for their upcoming Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears. According to the Ravens, they felt like Jackson wasn’t fit to play yet. That has alerted the NFL, which will be investigating Baltimore’s actions this week. “The Ravens could be subject to discipline by the NFL for violating the league’s injury report policy because the team originally listed Jackson as a full participant in Friday’s practice,” Ian Rapoport said in his article for ESPN.”Baltimore then changed Jackson’s practice participation to limited a day later. ‘The league will look into this,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Saturday. “The league reviews any matter involving a change to a player’s status.'” A source for ESPN said that while Jackson was active during practice, he was limited to taking repetitions with the scout squad. If this report is true, then the Ravens have violated the NFL’s rules on injury designations. A player who only took reps with the scout team is required to be listed as “limited” by the team. Baltimore initially listed Jackson as active, but downgraded him to limited a day later. The Ravens released a statement after making the change. “Lamar Jackson was present for and participated fully in our entire Friday practice. … Upon further evaluation today and after conferring with the league office, because Lamar didn’t take any starter reps in practice, we updated our report to reflect his practice participation.” The Ravens would have loved to have Jackson back for their game against the Bears. They currently hold a 1-5 record this season, and their season is all but over. A win over Chicago could revive their chances, especially after the Steelers’ loss in Week 7 shortened their division lead. However, without Jackson, the Ravens could have a tough time against the surprisingly resurgent Bears.

Dodgers fans down bad after Addison Barger grand slam punctuates disastrous Game 1 loss to Blue Jays

This is not how the Los Angeles Dodgers envisioned Game 1 of the World Series would go. The defending champions came into the game as heavy favorites, and for good reason. They came off a dominant performance against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, while the Jays had to fight their way through seven games against the Seattle Mariners. On paper, Los Angeles should be the favorite, right? Well, baseball is funny sometimes. The Blue Jays made sure to give the Toronto home crowd a show in the franchise’s first World Series game since their 1993 title. They blew out the Dodgers 11-4 in a completely one-sided game. The Jays got after starter Blake Snell and forced Los Angeles to trot out their shaky bullpen. The key to the Blue Jays’ dominant showing over the Dodgers was pinch-hitter Addison Barger. Barger hit a clutch grand slam against Anthony Banda in the sixth inning that put Toronto up 9-2 in the game. It’s safe to say that Dodgers fans are not too happy with the results of this game. I hate this Game 1. 🤬 pic.twitter.com/kDO9zJmw5O — Mark “MΛZΣ” Perozo (@MazezRealm) October 25, 2025 The Dodgers’ bullpen has been heavily criticized this season. After a solid performance in the NLCS, fans were hoping that the bullpen might have figured something out. After giving up multiple runs to the Jays, fans are not happy with the group’s performance. The Dodgers’ relievers are at an amateur level… When they’re put in, the game is over. They’re not at a level that should be put in the World Series┐(´д`)┌ — ココ@ (@kokoko44) October 25, 2025 Fans still have hope that the team can turn it around. It’s just Game 1 after all, and the World Series isn’t decided after just one game. Still, Dodgers fans can’t help but feel disappointed in their team’s performance. #LetsGoDodgers pic.twitter.com/XCmv2lSvce — Mike Dub (@SeaweedJeezus) October 25, 2025 The Dodgers aren’t out yet: it’s just Game 1, and they might still be a little rusty after a long break between the NLCS and the World Series. They’re also yet to play their home stretch of games. Still, being down 0-1 in a seven-game series isn’t a good feeling. The fact that they got to Snell, who was immaculate in their last series, is a bit terrifying.
