Bauchi pilgrims board announces deadline for 2026 Hajj payment

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reacted swiftly to the recent bandit attacks on border communities in the state, which claimed three lives in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas. In a strong directive issued on Sunday, Governor Yusuf ordered all Local Government Chairmen to convene regular security meetings involving security agencies, opinion leaders, and religious and traditional rulers. According to him, “such collaborative efforts at the grassroots level are essential to curbing the rising wave of attacks and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.” The governor’s directive was contained in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, following a high-level State Security Council meeting held at the Government House, Kano. ALSO READ: Kano gov orders tightened security in border communities after bandit attacks Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of community-based intelligence sharing and coordination among security stakeholders. “We must continue to work together from the grassroots to the state level to safeguard lives and property,” he stated. The meeting was attended by heads of all major security formations, including the Commandants of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy; the Commissioner of Police; NSCDC Commandant; NDLEA Commander; and the Comptrollers of the Correctional Service, Immigration, and Customs. Also present were the NAPTIP Commander, FRSC Sector Commander, ICPC Director, ALGON Chairman, and the Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government Area. Governor Yusuf identified Shanono, Tsanyawa, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Gwarzo as particularly vulnerable local government areas requiring special security attention. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability across Kano State, declaring that “security remains the top priority of this government.” The governor also sympathized with residents affected by the recent attacks and assured them of the state government’s unwavering efforts to restore safety and prevent further incursions by bandits.
