Claudine Keane releases statement calling out the way people treat her husband Robbie

Claudine Keane, former Miss Ireland and wife of football legend Robbie Keane, has released a very honest and heartfelt statement about how people treat her husband and family on X. The mother-of-two didn't hold back when she said she observes how people treat Robbie when they want a favour as opposed to just being a friend. In a short statement on X, she wrote: "I'm forever watching how other people treat my husband. I watch how they treat him when they need something from him. I watch how they treat him when he's the one in need. "I notice who shows up and who doesn't. I notice who calls to ask about his well-being. I notice who calls when they need a favours. "And I'll protect him from anyone who thinks they can take advantage. If you can't value him when there's nothing in it for you, you don't deserve a seat at our table." Robbie faced a lot of criticism for his involvement in Israeli football. He became manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2023 before stepping down the following June after his one-year contract ended. He defended his decision to stay and finish the season as a duty of care to the staff but faced backlash for not leaving after the Israel-Gaza conflict began. His family also had to deal with the scrutiny from a very small but hurtful bunch of individuals. Claudine said of the unrest at the time, "I would just like to remind a certain small group of individuals: my family, my children and I live in Ireland, this is our home. "I feel extremely uncomfortable and sometimes intimidated by some messages again from a small group that are hurtful, threatening and dangerous. They not only put genuinely our safety and wellbeing as a family at risk, they are using a sportsperson as a political pawn and in doing so inciting hatred by making absolutely outrageous accusations. I always felt safe in Ireland until now. "'I always wanted to move home, [bring] my kids up here and enjoy the Ireland that both me and my husband love," she said. "They [the trolls] are taking every bit of enjoyment and safety away from me and my family. We love our country, we are not politicians; we have never done any wrong. "My husband spent the majority of his adult life committed to the Ireland team... total and utter commitment," she said. "Please stop this absolute witch hunt and consider that politicians should not get to tell you where you can and cannot work. Is the UK, America [and] Saudi ok? We all want peace."
