Starmer blames Tories for collapse of China spy case
Sir Keir Starmer has blamed the previous Conservative government for the collapse of a case against two men accused of spying for China. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges against Christopher Cash and Christopher Berry last month – both men deny the allegations. MPs and Ministers criticised the decision. But the Director of Public Prosecutions said that the government’s witness statements failed to meet the threshold to prosecute and the Tories have demanded Sir Keir explain himself to Parliament.
