Lane Kiffin mocks Kirby Smart with ‘clapping’ gesture to ref

Ole Miss football versus Georgia took a rather humorous, mocking turn Saturday. All involving Lane Kiffin taking a dig at opposing coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs head coach went viral for a clapping incident against Auburn last Saturday. Well, Kiffin pulled off his version of it: “I was just clapping” pic.twitter.com/NgRt5KazPA — Bunkie Perkins (@BunkiePerkins) October 18, 2025 Smart got accused of calling a timeout instead of clapping during the Auburn contest. Kiffin made sure he wasn’t doing anything similar with his hands. But clearly was being playful with the official. Yet that Kiffin gesture sparked multiple reactions online. Chris Hummer of 247Sports caught the moment and laugh Kiffin shared with the ref. The fan site Everything Ole Miss referred to their head coach as a national treasure following that viral clip. Kiffin even texted Smart multiple times before the game, fueling the intrigue of this matchup. Lane Kiffin also joked about another moment before Ole Miss-Georgia Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Kiffin seemed to be in a humorous mood before the top 10 heavyweight showdown between the Southeastern Conference powers. But this particular moment involved his old boss at Alabama Nick Saban. The head coach’s wife Terry spoke about the possibility of Saban taking over the now open Penn State job. “I have no doubt if Nick wanted to go back to coaching, he could win his eighth national championship. But we’re having too much fun, and we wouldn’t want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches. Like Kirby (Smart) and Lane,” Terry Saban shared on College GameDay regarding if Saban would consider the Nittany Lions. Kiffin dropped this succinct response with a laughing emoji. Thanks Mrs. Terry 😂 https://t.co/SAlR4cf5Y5 — Lane Kiffin (@Lane_Kiffin) October 18, 2025 Penn State fans hoping for Kiffin will likely have their bubbles burst. Kiffin is reportedly working on a new extension as of Friday. Meanwhile, Kiffin and Smart engaged in a shootout at Athens. Georgia took a late 40-35 lead with under 7:30 left in the fourth quarter.

George Springer gets massive injury update for ALCS Game 6

The Toronto Blue Jays witnessed George Springer walk off in discomfort in Friday’s game at Seattle. The designated hitter received a massive injury update ahead of Game 6 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS). Springer took a hit by pitch that forced him to leave. Baseball columnist Shi Davidi dropped this Saturday update. “John Schneider said George Springer is feeling better, CT Scan confirmed X-Rays that showed no fracture. Getting more treatment today,” Davidi posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. The manager Schneider added via Keegan Matheson of MLB.com that he’s “hopeful and optimistic” that Springer will swing the bat in Game 6. “Just tell me he’s good to go and he’s good to go. Georgie’s played through a lot, probably more than you guys know,” Schneider shared via Matheson. Blue Jays manager ripped Mariners fans for this George Springer moment Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images Springer became involved in a tense moment between the Blue Jays-Mariners…one that Schneider called out. “I think the fans that were booing him should take a look in the mirror and understand what kind of a player he is,” Schneider explained. He also urged the fans to realize how painful Springer’s ailment was. “When a guy gets hit in the knee and is in obvious pain, and you have 40,000 people cheering, not the right thing to do,” Schneider said. The Blue Jays’ offense has re-erupted at T-Mobile Park before the Game 5 loss. The visitors scored 13 and eight runs to even the series at 2-2 in front of Mariners fans. Andres Giminez and Vladmir Guerrero Jr. blasted home run in the Game 4 rout. But Seattle kept Toronto’s offense in check Friday — allowing seven hits but no one pounding multiple smacks at the bat. The series shifts backs to Toronto on Sunday.
