KazTransOil unveils cargo transportation figures through Batumi Sea Port

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 11. The total volume of cargo handled through the berths of Batumi Sea Port exceeded 6 million tons as of November 1, 2025. Data obtained by Trend from KazTransOil indicates that the growth in transshipment volumes was primarily due to an increase in the volume of container handling, ferries, and certain categories of dry cargo compared to the same period in 2024, as well as stable supplies of petroleum products originating in Kazakhstan and higher volumes of light petroleum products. Farhat Tashibayev, General Director of Batumi Oil Terminal, emphasized that the achieved results demonstrate the stability and reliability of the group of companies. "This success reflects the high discipline and professionalism of our entire team. We continue to strengthen Batumi’s role as a key hub of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, ensuring stable supplies and supporting economic ties between Kazakhstan, Georgia, and the Black Sea region," he said. The Batumi Oil Terminal group of companies continues to implement KazTransOil’s strategic objectives aimed at enhancing the efficiency of transit routes and strengthening Batumi Port’s role as a key hub within the region’s energy and logistics infrastructure. Since February 2008, KazTransOil, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas, has owned the Batumi Oil Terminal and holds exclusive management rights over 100 percent of Batumi Sea Port. Situated on the Black Sea coast in the city of Batumi, Georgia, the terminal provides transshipment services for crude oil and petroleum products originating from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, and other countries. The facility spans a total area of 81 hectares and comprises five tank farms along with an oil loading complex.

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. As of 30 September 2025, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) maintained an active investment portfolio in Kazakhstan totaling 2.708 billion euros, Trend reports. The majority of the portfolio - 2.116 billion euros, or 78 percent - is concentrated in sustainable infrastructure projects. The corporate sector accounts for 383 million euros (14 percent), while financial institutions represent 209 million euros, or 8 percent of the total. The current portfolio includes 124 active operations, with operating assets amounting to 1.748 billion euros. Since the beginning of its operations in Kazakhstan in 1992, the EBRD has cumulatively invested 10.023 billion euros across 342 projects. Total disbursements and issued guarantees stand at 8.167 billion euros to date. The EBRD’s strategic focus in Kazakhstan includes enhancing private-sector competitiveness, improving connectivity, and strengthening economic governance. The bank also plays a key role in supporting Kazakhstan’s transition to a green economy, with emphasis on carbon neutrality, climate resilience, and broader economic inclusion, including gender equality through private-sector development

Georgia, Kazakhstan join forces to accelerate cargo movement along Middle Corridor

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 23. Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev discussed promoting additional freight flows through Middle Corridor, Trend reports via the Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The meeting took place within the framework of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum. Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani and General Director of Georgian Railway Lasha Abashidze also participated in the discussions. During the talks, the sides emphasized that the development of the Middle Corridor serves the interests of both countries. They underlined the importance of joint efforts to further promote this transport route and enhance its competitiveness. The ministers discussed coordinated cooperation among the railways of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan aimed at increasing rail freight traffic between China and Europe. Furthermore, the meeting also addressed cooperation in other transport sectors. The parties highlighted the fruitful partnership in civil aviation Passenger traffic between Georgia and Kazakhstan grew by 10.4 percent from January to September 2025 compared to the same period of 2024. Positive trends in tourism cooperation were also noted. The sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a strong bilateral dialogue format, stressing that the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation remains a key platform for strengthening economic, trade, transport, and cultural ties between Georgia and Kazakhstan.
