Timberwolves Announce Troubling Anthony Edwards Injury News

The Minnesota Timberwolves will open their 2025-26 NBA regular season with a matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Unfortunately for the Timberwolves, they could be without their franchise superstar for this season-opening contest. On Tuesday evening, the team updated the injury status of All-Star shooting guard Anthony Edwards, listing him as questionable to take the court with back spasms. The absence of Edwards would completely change the complexion of Wednesday night’s season-opening matchup. Through 79 games in the Timberwolves’ 2024-25 regular season, the former No. 1 overall pick averaged a career-high 27.6 points per game on 44.7% shooting from the field and 39.5% shooting from behind the 3-point arc. DiVincenzo (rest) sat out for Friday’s preseason finale against the Philadelphia 76ers, but has since been cleared for action. Second-year shooting guard Terrence Shannon Jr. could also hear his name called if Edwards is unable to play. Edwards and the Timberwolves made it to the Western Conference Finals in each of the last two seasons, ultimately getting bounced by the Dallas Mavericks in 2023-24 and the eventual-champion Oklahoma City Thunder in 2024-25. That’s the main thing.” Wednesday night’s season-opening matchup against the Trail Blazers will tipoff at 10 p.m. ET.

Auburn Urged to Fire Hugh Freeze if Tigers Lose on Saturday

The Auburn Tigers suffered a 23-17 double-overtime loss to the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, marking the team’s fourth consecutive loss. With a 3-4 record to open the 2025 college football season, pressure continues to build for Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. Freeze took over as Auburn’s head coach before the 2023 season. Since then, he’s notched a 14-18 overall record and an abysmal 1-12 record against ranked opponents. The former Ole Miss/Liberty head coach failed to achieve a winning record in each of his first two seasons with Auburn, going 6-7 and 5-7. There are many who believe Freeze’s tenure with the Tigers could be coming to an end, including ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum. Maybe we can get to Alabama,’” Finebaum said. “But now that seems to be gone. The schedule doesn’t look that difficult, except they still have a road game at Vanderbilt, which looks incredibly difficult. I think a loss Saturday, tell me what argument you could make to retain him. You now have five losses with Vanderbilt and Alabama ahead.” More Football: Florida Urged to Hire Top ACC Coach as Billy Napier Replacement “I just think the goodwill has gone. I’m not trying to read the tea leaves, but it seems like more and more people are just flat out saying he was a mistake,” Finebaum continued. “I don’t think he was a mistake. I agreed with the decision. I’m not going to be hypocrytical about it. I don’t think it’s as urgent to unload him as it was Billy Napier. I also wish Hugh Freeze would just be very careful what he says. I think he’s hurt himself with public comments. I think he needs to show strength, not weakness. There is an incredibly narrow path for him to save his job, but I think the clock it ticking very loudly for him.” Auburn is 0-4 to open up SEC play, suffering losses to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Georgia and Missouri. Each of those losses came by 10 points or less. “Auburn football fans deserve better,” Finebaum continued. “The Auburn family deserves better. Because this guy just simply has not delivered. You cannot argue with the statistics. Finding a way to lose is one of the worst ways to retain your job because you give fans no faith. You have to win some games. “… The truth is they’ve lost all these games and Hugh Freeze’s argument to be retained is almost nonexistent. That’s really the problem for John Cohen and the people that run Auburn.” Freeze and Auburn will travel to Arkansas’ Razorback Stadium for a 12:45 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday. If the Tigers are unable to stop their losing skid, the school will likely be forced to continue some difficult conversations about its program leader.

Tyreek Hill Makes His Opinion of the Chiefs Extremely Clear

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is monitoring the NFL from home as he continues to recover from the season-ending knee injury he suffered in Week 4. During the Dolphins’ lone win over the New York Jets, Hill suffered a gruesome injury, dislocating his knee and tearing his ACL (among other ligaments). He recently underwent surgery and will not return for Miami this season. Hill sent a message to his Dolphins teammates on social media as they struggled against the Cleveland Browns in their Week 7 matchup. “Let’s go fins let’s turn this thing around in the second half,” Hill wrote on X after the Dolphins trailed 17-6 at the halftime break. Hill then turned his attention toward his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense is absolutely rolling against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, leading 31-0 at the end of the third quarter. Wide receiver Rashee Rice has been excellent in his first game back since his NFL suspension, reeling in seven catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Mahomes was replaced by backup QB Gardner Minshew for the fourth quarter. The MVP candidate finished his day with 289 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions on 26/35 passing. “Also Rashee Rice is so dangerous !! Chiefs back rolling love to see it,” Hill wrote on X.
