‘Terrible’: NRL rocked by 18yo’s tragic death

It was confirmed on Thursday the 18-year-old had died by suicide, with tributes flowing for the talented footballer. NRL reporter The Mole wrote on X: “Terrible news - Souths Jersey Flegg prop Johannes Logan has died. Here is a link to support his family.” Originally from Orange in NSW, Johannes started out playing rugby union before turning his attention to rugby league after moving to Sydney, where he was based in Coogee. Johannes attended St Joseph’s College and played 1st XV football for his school at GPS level in a sign of the bright future he had on the football field. He was part of South Sydney’s SG Ball program and was on track to play in the club’s Jersey Flegg squad in 2026. Standing 6’1” and weighing 103kg, Johannes was said to be a powerful presence on the field, and the talented prop was seen as a potential future star of the NRL. A GoFundMe page has been set up, with more than $50,000 already raised for the Logan family. “Support the Logan family during this difficult time, if you would like to help out, a donation would be most welcomed,” the GoFundMe description reads. “These funds will go directly to the family to help them during this difficult time. “Our prayers are with Rene, Andrew, AJ, and Abi. You will be missed Johannes.” News.com.au has contacted the South Sydney Rabbitohs for comment.

Beloved AFL figure Iain Findlay left with sickening injuries in road rage attack

Beloved AFL identity Iain Findlay is recovering in hospital after suffering sickening injuries when he was dragged along a freeway in a road rage attack. Findlay is a former AFL tribunal advocate, acting for the likes of Wayne Carey, Matthew Lloyd and Jack Viney over the years — he was also a team manager for Victoria and clubs including Essendon, Fitzroy and South Melbourne. The 77-year-old is a former police detective and a Vietnam veteran. Last week, Findlay was the victim of some shocking road rage on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway that saw him dragged underneath a driver’s car. “A guy pulled up and threw a rock at the car so I tried to push him over to the side to get his details,” Findlay told Seven News. Watch Iain Findlay recount the attack in the video above “And as I got out of the car, he gunned his car straight at me, smashed into me, trapped me and travelled for about 80 metres with me underneath the car.” The shocking incident left Findlay with severe injuries — layers of skin were taken off his legs — and doctors have said he will need to stay in hospital for another month to recover. Seven News reporter Xander McGuire said Findlay was “lucky to be alive”. Police told Seven a 19-year-old driver of a Toyota was expected to be charged over the “hit-and-run collision”. “It is understood the driver of a Lexus sedan exited his vehicle and went to confront the driver of a Toyota Yaris before he was struck by the vehicle,” the police statement said. “Investigators believe the drivers were involved in a road rage incident prior to the collision. “The driver of the Lexus, a 77-year-old man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old man, fled the scene before he was stopped by good Samaritans a short distance away and arrested by police.” Police said they were investigating and appealed to witness who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
