Hysterics at Dachshund’s Reaction to Shower: ‘He’s in a Music Video'
Dachshunds are known for their dislike of the water and tend to avoid beaches and bath time, but one sausage dog who showed off a surprisingly relaxed demeanor while being washed has become an exception to the rule. The Washington-based dog was filmed standing peacefully in a bathtub amid shallow water at his paws and running water above his head. The canine’s debonair way of standing under the water prompted some viewers on TikTok to joke that he looks like an artist in a melodramatic music video. The post, which was shared to the platform on October 22 by @pnutbutterjillytime, has been liked more than 93,000 times to date. Viewers were able to see the male dachshund, named Lenny, standing confidently in the bathtub, letting the running water stream down his small head as a melodic moment in a Phoebe Bridgers song played. The post was comedically captioned: “Diva down.” @pnutbutterjillytime diva down #fyp #minidachshund #dachshundpuppy #puppy #cute #fypシ ♬ scott street – ☆ The short clip has sparked a flurry of amused comments from viewers who were delighted by the dachshund’s divalike air, something that many joked could fit into famous music videos and films with ease. “He’s low-key just pretending he’s in a music video,” one viewer posted. “It’s giving Umbrella music video,” another added, referencing the 2007 hit song by Rihanna. “Tell my children [I love them] *cue the violins, as the titanic lowers into the North Atlantic*” a third commented, in a lighthearted callback to the 1997 movie Titanic. “It’s giving ‘why didn’t you write me?'” one user added, referencing a scene in heavy rainfall from The Notebook. “Diva is either hating every moment or living her best life,” another wrote. “This is so sweet it made me cry,” a third commented. “Diva is either hating every moment or living her best life,” a fourth posted. Most dachshunds are averse to rain and water, often going to great lengths to avoid getting wet. With their low-to-the-ground bodies and short legs, even small puddles can seem like mini lakes to them, making rainy walks a dreaded experience and a challenge. Many owners note that their dachshunds will refuse to step outside when it is wet, giving them a look of pure betrayal if coaxed into the rain. Dachshunds’ dislike likely stems from the fact they were bred for burrowing, not swimming. Newsweek reached out to @pnutbutterjillytime for more information via TikTok.
