2 years after it officially ended, DC fans are appreciating the DCEU's best moments: "When the DCEU got things right man was it beautiful"

As James Gunn's DCU starts taking shape following the recent releases of Superman and Peacemaker season 2, DC fans are getting nostalgic thinking about the former DCEU, which officially ended two years ago. In a recent online conversation, hundreds of them remembered the franchise's best scenes, from Superman's first flight to Batman's action-packed warehouse scene, noting that "it wasn't all as bad" as some claim now. In a Reddit thread titled "When the DCEU got things right man was it beautiful", users have shared some of their favorite moments from movies like Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. "Wonder Woman was such a damn good movie, so was the first Aquaman. Man of Steel not far behind. It wasn't all as bad as doomers like to claim," wrote one fan, while others praised the "top-notch" action from Snyder's films. "Snyder had a good eye for visuals. That and Zimmer's scores were bits that I liked," wrote a user. "That shot of the sand and pebbles vibrating around Superman’s hand before he takes off had me dying to see Man of Steel," offered another. A handful of fans agree that Ben Affleck's warehouse scene in Batman v Superman "is still the best sequence the character has had on the big screen easily", with others saying the film's "intro credits was too damn beautiful". "I don't get the WW [Wonder Woman] slander lately," one Redditor complained, "For me it’s the perfect middle ground of Snyder’s visual style and action set pieces and heartfelt character centric scriptwriting. If more of the DCEU was like WW, we wouldn't be where we are." Besides those defending the old DCEU, there were also some negative voices, calling out Snyder for his style-over-substance tendencies. "The cinematography was cool, yeah, but the characterization of almost every character was way off. My issue with the DCEU isn't that it looked bad, it's that the plot and characters betrayed the core emotional themes of its characters," wrote one fan. Others decided to look at the future, building a bridge between the two DC sagas: "I like aspects of the DCEU and hopefully it'll be even better with the DCU. I'm looking forward to seeing the new releases next year." Letterboxd hits major milestone and reveals the unexpected movie that has become the three billionth title watched on the app

Letterboxd has officially reached three billion films marked as watched on their app, and we would never have guessed which movie helped them get there. The platform, a favorite for movie fans all over the world, celebrated this major milestone today, writing on Twitter: "Letterboxd has now joined the Three Billion Watched Club." Immediately after, multiple people asked which movie had become the three billionth title to be watched on the app, and Letterboxd obliged – it was Jumanji: The Next Level. "I really hope this is true because that's hilarious," replied one user, followed by a swift response from the platform: "It is." "This is the funniest s*** I have ever seen," added another, while others seemed devastated by this fun fact and demanded: "Could you lie about this instead." "We really must atone at 4 billion," commented someone else, while others were a tad more radical and proposed to "delete the app and start over." Released back in 2019, Jumanji: The Next Level was a follow-up to the successful 2017 Jumanji reboot, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, and brought back lead stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart. "When Spencer goes back into the fantastical world of Jumanji, pals Martha, Fridge and Bethany re-enter the game to bring him home," reads the official synopsis, "But the game is now broken – and fighting back. Everything the friends know about Jumanji is about to change, as they soon discover there's more obstacles and more danger to overcome." The film has a 72% approval rating from critics and 87% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, with the Critics Consensus reading: "Like many classic games, Jumanji: The Next Level retains core components of what came before while adding enough fresh bits to keep things playable." In GamesRadar+'s Jumanji: The Next Level review, we gave the film three stars, noting that although "some of the vibrancy has worn off", it's undeniable that "this Rock-solid sequel has enough giggles and gasps to attract herds of viewers". Hasbro has 45-50 movies and TV shows in development, and we're not even sure we can name that many toys

More toys are set to jump onto the big screen in the next few years, with Hasbro teasing that they have around 45 to 50 series and feature film projects currently in development with different studios. We know that two separate Monopoly projects are in the works right now, but most of those projects, based on Hasbro properties, won't be announced any time soon. "We tend to not announce a development deal, we tend to wait until it’s actually in production," said CEO Chris Cocks in a recent interview with Deadline. "Those are starting to go through, and probably in 2026 there will be a lot more to share." Cocks said the company is working with "the best of the best," licensing their properties to major entertainment players like Netflix, Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Lionsgate and Paramount. Other previously announced Hasbro projects include My Little Pony, and we wouldn't be surprised if more Transformers movies are on the way after the warm reception of the animated title Transformers One. The Monopoly movie is being developed at Lionsgate and will be produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap. Earlier this year, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were announced as writers. The second Monopoly project is an unscripted game show, which is being created at Netflix. Films based on toys are having a moment right now, following the record-breaking success of Barbie in the summer of 2023. Emily in Paris star Lily Collins is set to star in a Polly Pocket movie produced by Reese Witherspoon, while Daniel Kaluuya will lead the cast of a live-action film based on Barney, both properties of Mattel. Adaptations of Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, American Girl and Monster High are currently in the works too, and we're sure many more will follow if viewers keep turning up in cinemas (or streaming).
