Spider-Man: Brand New Day won't be getting an IMAX release, according to the planned 2026 schedule

IMAX has unveiled its planned releases for 2026, and, so far, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be skipping the massive screen. According to IMAX's own Investor Presentation, the films slated for IMAX release next year are: Mercy, The Bride, Project Hail Mary, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael, Mortal Kombat 2, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5, Supergirl, Minions 3, Moana, The Odyssey, Flowervale Street, Resident Evil, Untitled Iñárritu/Tom Cruise, Street Fighter, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, Narnia, Avengers: Doomsday, and Dune: Part 3. Avatar: Fire and Ash will also continue showing in IMAX into 2026. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, which means it's coming right in the middle of a pretty crowded IMAX season: the live-action Moana and The Odyssey are arriving on July 10 and July 17, respectively. It makes sense, then, that the Marvel Phase 6 movie might not get an IMAX release. Another interesting point about the release slate, though, is that a bit of a stand-off is forming between Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part 3. Both films are releasing on December 18, and both are set to have an IMAX release. How that shakes out remains to be seen, but it could mean both films have fewer IMAX showings to share the screens. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see the return of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, along with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Jon Bernthal's Punisher, Zendaya's MJ, and Jacob Batalan's Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink is also part of the cast in a mystery role, and Marvel fans think they've worked out who she'll be playing. A new child-friendly horror movie from Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine is being called the bleakest of the year: "I'm 30 years old and the ending of this movie left me deeply unsettled"

A new horror movie aimed at kids is terrifying youngsters and adults alike, thanks to its incredibly bleak ending. The movie, titled Pumpkinhead, is based on a short story from Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine. Jem Garrard wrote and directed the adaptation. It follows a boy, Sam, whose brother Finn disappears when Sam steals a pumpkin. Everyone forgets Finn ever existed, so Sam must save his brother from the curse. But, the twist comes at the end. Now, we're getting into spoiler territory here, so skip this paragraph if you don't want specifics. In the movie, Sam ends up swapping with his brother, so his family forget Sam and leave him behind instead. "I've watched a lot of really dark horror movies this year. I don't think any of them had an ending as downright BLEAK as the new for-kids horror movie R.L. STINE'S PUMPKINHEAD, now streaming on Tubi," Bloody Disgusting's editor in chief John Squires tweeted. "The STINE TWIST is alive & well in '25." A concerned father also took to Reddit to share his children's reaction to the movie. "My kids were fine with the horror aspect but the ending left them disturbed in a way Jason or Freddy never did so I wanted to take a second to warn you dads out there," he wrote. "Just finished it and my kids both hated the end for the reason you said, but they still liked the movie. They're more upset there's no sequel planned. It does provide a good opportunity to have a talk about how not all stories have a happy ending," says another viewer. "I'm 30 years old and the ending of this movie left me deeply unsettled. I hate that it ended that way. It wasn't 'scary' or shocking, just depressing and unnecessary. Not the way I expect to feel when I walk away from a PG movie," says someone else. "Most whiplashed ending I’ve seen in a while. Especially considering I’d call this more more Goosebumps type movie. In one way I’m glad it wasn’t wrapped up in a pretty bow with the rainbows shining and butterflies fluttering but Jesus man. I sat through the credits mouth opened pretty dumbfounded it ended as bleak as it did," says another person. Pumpkinhead is streaming free on Tubi now. It's the Snyder Cut all over again as Star Wars fans fly a banner over Disney demanding the Ben Solo movie

Somehow, the Snyder Cut returned – Star Wars fans are so keen to get the Ben Solo movie back into development that an actual banner campaigning for its release made it into the sky above Disney Studios in California. The banner reads #SaveTheHuntForBenSolo and was spotted in the sky yesterday, October 23. Collider reported live from the scene and spoke to the fan who organized the stunt, Lianna Al Allaf. "I really hope this banner shows the decision makers at Disney that the fans really do want this," Al Allaf shared. "I hope this banner shows just how much the character of Ben Solo means to so many of us, and that the fans really do want this movie." Recently, Adam Driver himself revealed that he'd been developing a Ben Solo movie with Steven Soderbergh, and, while Lucasfilm was onboard, Disney bosses Bob Iger and Alan Bergman killed it. “We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that," Driver said. The fan reaction to the news has been huge, with many pointing out that multiple Star Wars characters have died and returned – and a cryptic post from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, director of the upcoming Rey movie, also has fans speculating. Next up for Star Wars is Visions Volume 3, which arrives this October 29. Next year, the franchise returns to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu.
