Game Of Thrones Prequel, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, To Have Its Debut On THIS Date

The next Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is finally set to arrive after several months of delay. HBO has released the first poster for the series and confirmed that it will premiere in January. The show, based on George RR Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, is set almost a hundred years before the events of the original series. The newly released poster shows Dunk and Egg standing together, hinting at their close bond. Unlike the Emilia Clarke starrer and House of the Dragon, known for their grand and intense sequences, the upcoming spinoff will be more grounded. Fans can expect to witness a fresh side of Westeros rather than large scale battles and political wars. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Premiere Date and First Poster Released 2026 is set to become a big year for Game of Thrones fans. For the first time, two shows from the franchise will premiere in the same year. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will start the year, while House of the Dragon Season 3 is expected to return later. Sharing the poster on social media, the makers wrote, “This Winter, Spring is Coming. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres January.” This Winter, Spring is Coming.#AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms premieres January, only on @hbomax. #NYCC pic.twitter.com/zq3wcztM37 — Game of Thrones (@GameOfThrones) October 6, 2025 No Title Sequence In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms co-creator Ira Parker shocked Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fans by revealing that the series will not have a traditional title sequence with the iconic music. Instead, each episode will begin with a simple title card. Working on the show made Parker think about what fans loved most about the original series. He asks, “Is it the dead coming to kill mankind? Is it the dragons? Is it the politics? Is it the big roving POVs, warring families?” Speaking about removing the opening titles, the creator admits, “It was probably the most stressful decision I made on this. It was not entered into lightly, but it serves our show.” The series, an adaptation of George RR Martin’s The Hedge Knight, takes place a “century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” Meet The Cast Of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms features Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen, alongside the show’s lead stars, Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell will play Egg.
