New witness to testify before Madlanga Commission

A new witness will appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Monday morning. Last week, witnesses concluded their evidence on the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department. They focused on suspended Deputy Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi’s unlawful authorisation of the fitting of blue lights on vehicles of alleged cartel member Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. The witnesses also detailed how officers allegedly aided criminal elements to infiltrate their units. Witnesses before the Madlanga Commission have testified how those working in law enforcement agencies have allegedly assisted individuals believed to be linked to criminal syndicates to infiltrate law enforcement agencies. The commission has also heard how top police officials allegedly tried to interfere in investigations involving Katiso “KT” Molefe. He is another member believed to be part of the criminal cartel.
