'If I could turn back time' Today FM's Louise Cantillon tried to hold back her tears radio

It has been an emotional week for Declan Hannon as he hung up his hurling boots and his wife Louise made a tribute to the All-Ireland Champion on her radio show this week. The former Limerick Captain announced his retirement from Limerick GAA after 15 years, with an impressive five All-Ireland titles, seven Munster titles and two Allianz hurling Leagues. While the Treaty County is sad to see him go, his wife, who has her own show on Today FM, tried to hold back the tears as she took a little trip down memory lane. Bitter sweet day for the parish 💛Louise shares a heartfelt message for her husband Declan Hannon as he retires from inter-county Hurling with 5 all Ireland wins under his belt 🏆 pic.twitter.com/mxEzahuV8H— Today FM 💛 (@TodayFM) October 22, 2025 Speaking to her listeners, she began by saying 'It's a big day in my house today, for me, for my family, for my in-laws, but most especially for my husband, Declan Hannon, who, for those of you who don't know, has played senior hurling with Limerick for the last 15 years of our life and 15 years of our relationship as well.' Trying to stop herself from crying, she mentioned how when the news broke, there were tears. Trying to compose herself for her radio show, she said 'I had to keep my head down, run into work and not meet anyone because I'm not ready for any hugs until 2 p.m. But I don't want to cry on the radio, and I don't want to be sad about this because it's not something to be sad about.' Calling it an 'end of an era' she read a small dedication to her husband and the incredible path that both have been on when it comes to hurling. It's not a sad day, and it's not sad news, it's not news to get upset about, but for me, And for a lot of people, it's the end of an incredible era and some of the most special days of my life. Getting it 'out of her system,' she warned her hubby that if he was listening he may want to switch it off because it was about to get a small bit 'mushy.' Looking at his career she said 'Declan's had a phenomenal career as a hurler. He has every hurling team he's ever captained has won whatever competition they set out to do. And this all started back in primary school in the early 90s. He was the captain of the famous Mackie Cup team in fifth class.' Laughing she that she didn't know him back then so she couldn't of claimed the status of WAG. Meeting when they were in secondary school even then he was on to great things in the GAA with captaining their team and later in college in Mary Immaculate. With so many highlights over they years, playing for his local team and for the county, the radio star was unable to pinpoint her favourite memory because there was so many of them however she said she knows they will be 'reminiscing on highlights for the rest of our lives, and we're only 32 years old.' Finishing off her message she said, 'what I do want to say on record today, and nationally, while I have this really special opportunity, it has been the joy of my life to be on this journey with you, Declan, and if I could turn back time and do it all again, I would do it in a heartbeat.' Now if that isnt love, we don't know what is!

Spice Girls 'set for Netflix biopic despite Geri's objections'

Stop right now, fans of the Spice Girls, as we are apparently about to get a whole new helping of the band's history in a new biopic. Netflix is said to have approached the band, but it seems that only four out of the five are in agreement to proceed with the project. It is believed that while the girls were all on good terms with each other, the apple cart was rocked when a 'feud' between Geri and Mel B escalated. According to reports, Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B, and Emma Bunton have decided to press on with their 'rule of four' option, which indicates that the majority rules within the group, and take part in a Netflix special... it is almost like history repeating itself as Geri leaves and the rest of the girls carry on. A source close to the group told The Sun: 'Geri has been dragging her heels for almost a year and the rest of the band are keen to plough ahead as next year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut single Wannabe.' They added that there's a 'variety' of projects being discussed to mark the big anniversary but that a biopic-style drama would be a good fit as it 'doesn’t actually involve the girls taking as much time out of their lives to be a part of it.' According to the publication, each of the singers could pocket £1million from the production- a nice little earner for each of them as they stroll down memory lane! A date has not been set yet, and it is rumoured that five actresses will be playing the roles of the girls as the story unfolds. Chatter of a Netflix biopic comes after Victoria filmed her own three-part series with the streamer following the success of her husband David's show.
