When will Nuremberg (2025) premiere? Release date, cast details, first look, and more

Written and directed by James Vanderbilt, Nuremberg is a historical drama film which is based on the 2013 book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist by Jack El-Hai. Scheduled for a release on November 7, 2025, the narrative follows psychiatrist Douglas Kelly (played by Rami Malek), who is put in charge of assessing the Nazi high command Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe) to decide whether the latter is fit to stand trial in the Nuremberg trials. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025, received a four-minute-long standing ovation at the festival. It also features Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Mark O'Brien, Colin Hanks, Wrenn Schmidt, Lydia Peckham, Richard E. Grant, and Michael Shannon in supporting roles alongside other cast members.Russell Crowe and Rami Malek face off as the lead in James Vanderbilt's NurembergA still from the film's trailer (Image via YouTube/Sony Pictures Classics)James Vanderbilt’s Nuremberg sets up a gripping psychological showdown between its two leads. Russell Crowe delivers a chilling performance as Hermann Göring, the defiant Nazi leader portrayed as a brilliant yet dangerously egotistical manipulator who treats the trial not as a reckoning, but as a game he intends to win. His confidence borders on delusion as he claims his invincibility and believes he can outsmart justice itself. Opposite him, Rami Malek plays Dr. Douglas Kelly, the American psychiatrist assigned to assess Göring’s mental state. Kelly finds himself dragged into a dangerous mind game, aware that every conversation risks turning against him.Nuremberg trailer: a gripping glimpse at the birth of justice and the battle for truthThe film's trailer shows that this isn’t just another courtroom drama; it’s about the first international trial in history, where the world must decide how to bring war criminals to justice. The tension soon starts to pile up as one character doubts the mission, saying it can’t be done because there’s “no international law” to base it on. And another insists, “The world needs to know what these men did.”The core conflict lies in the face-off between Hermann Göring and American psychiatrist Dr. Kelly. Crowe’s Göring is confident, proud, and disturbingly charming, the kind of man who believes he can talk his way out of anything, even a death sentence. The trailer of Nuremberg also highlights the weight of the supporting characters, such as the strict prison commandant and the nervous guards, adding suspense that everything could collapse at any moment. In the final scenes of the trailer, Michael Shannon's character states:"We are able to do away with domestic tyranny only when we make all men answerable to the law."The true story behind NurembergA still from the film's trailer (Image via YouTube/Sony Pictures Classics)James Vanderbilt's upcoming historical drama is factually based on real-life events which took place in 1945, when the Nazi high command was put on trial. Rami Malek’s Dr. Douglas Kelley and Russell Crowe’s Hermann Göring psychological duel is based on Jack El-Hai's book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, which was released on 2013.Stay tuned for more updates.

Where was Bugonia (2025) filmed? Complete guide to all filming locations and other production details

Directed by the BAFTA Award recipient Yorgos Lanthimos, Bugonia is a remake of Jang Joon-hwan's 2003 Korean film Save the Green Planet!. The dark comedy film stars Emma Stone as Michelle Fuller, the CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, and Jesse Plemons as Teddy Gatz, a beekeeper and conspiracy theorist. The story revolves around Teddy and his neurotic cousin Don (played by Aidan Delbis), who believe that Michelle is a high-ranking alien, a so-called "Andromedan," who has taken over Earth with the intention of destroying it. The two men kidnap Michelle and hold her captive in their rural basement, where they subject her to bizarre interrogation and torture, hoping to force her to contact her "mothership" and negotiate the aliens' withdrawal. As the desperate CEO tries to convince her captors she is human, it's revealed Teddy's anger is fueled by a combination of his fear for humanity (including the collapse of bee colonies) and a quest for revenge, as Michelle's company is responsible for a drug trial that left his mother (Alicia Silverstone) comatose.Bugonia was mainly filmed in locations across the United Kingdom and the United States, including locations in High Wycombe and Oxshott, England, and the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Some scenes were also filmed in Sarakiniko Beach in Greek island of Milos.Bugonia filming locations and production detailsBugonia production was mainly centered across locations in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Greece. In the UK, filming was held in the English countryside and its periphery with key locations such as the High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, and the wealthy village of Oxshott, Surrey, where a private estate was used as the home of Emma Stone's CEO character, Michelle. The corporate setting, which was the fictional Auxolith headquarters, was shot at Botanica Ditton Park near Slough, a modern office complex that establishes the character's cold, luxurious world. The production was also held in the American city of Atlanta, Georgia, where filming was completed by October 2024.Director Yorgos Lanthimos, a Greek filmmaker, had intended to shoot the film's ending at the Acropolis of Athens. However, the Central Archaeological Council of Greece rejected his request. Hence, the production team had to seek an alternative, leading them to the Greek island of Milos, where the filming was held at Sarakiniko Beach.Bugonia is Lanthimos's most costly movie to date, with an estimated budget of between $45 million and $55 million. The film's cinematography was helmed by Robbie Ryan, who chose to shoot approximately 95% of the movie on high-resolution VistaVision (8-perf 35mm film), a technique he also employed on filming Poor Things. This format allowed for an immersive, widescreen canvas with a classic film texture.Following a production period that spanned from July 2024 to May 2025, Bugonia premiered at major film festivals and was released in the United States with limited screenings on October 24, 2025.Bugonia is set for a wide release on October 31, 2025 in the U.S. and Ireland.
