John Paul Estephane For SLP

The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has announced the official launch of its endorsed candidate for the Babonneau constituency, Mr. John Paul Estephane. A major event is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Caribbean Cinemas Parking Lot in Choc, Castries, along the Allan Bousquet Highway. Officials of the SLP say this could yet be the biggest rally in recent times. This event follows on the heels of the huge launchings of Vieux South candidate Danny Butcher, Castries South East candidate Lisa Jawahir and last weekend’s presentation of candidate for Micoud South Shanda Lee Harracksingh. Over the past three Sundays, thousands of St. Lucians have turned out in support of the various candidate vying for elective office on the SLP ticket. The St. Lucia Labour Party have fielded motorcades from almost every constituency which accounts for the massive crowds that have been on show. The SLP have stated that the large numbers on show is an indication of the strength of the parts and the confidence by the voters in the ruling SLP administration The SLP says in preparation for the Babonneau candidate launch, and recognising the logistical challenges associated with large gatherings, the organising committee has collaborated closely with key public safety partners, including the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force & Traffic Department, and the Saint Lucia Fire Service. Following thorough consultation, the Caribbean Cinemas Parking Lot was identified as the most suitable and secure venue to accommodate the expected crowd safely and comfortably. This location is expected to provide optimal accessibility, visibility, and infrastructure to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The Party underscores that the safety and well-being of all supporters, volunteers, service providers, and officials remain its highest priority. The Babonneau constituency, currently represented by Virginia Albert-Poyette who was allegedly initially not on board with the decision to field a new candidate, has now reportedly thrown her full support behind Estephane. John Paul Estephane has confirmed that he grew up in the Babonneau constituency and is the brother of Former United Workers Party (UWP) Minister Edmund Estaphane, who once occupied the Dennery South seat. The SLP advises the general public to anticipate traffic delays on the day of the event and urges patience, cooperation, and the use of alternative routes where possible. Sunday’s launching is expected to draw SLP supporters from across the island. Estephane is seeking to usurp the Babonneau seat ahead of UWP endorsed candidate Leo Titus Preville who is also from the constituency.
