New Delhi Over 91000 Fake ENO Packets Seized How To Know Real Antacid Powder

After fake Colgate toothpaste, a fake ENO racket has come to light. In a major crackdown, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted the fake antacid manufacturing unit in the Ibrahimpur area of North Delhi. The raid uncovered a large-scale operation producing counterfeit sachets of the over-the-counter medicine. Two men, identified as Sandeep Jain and Jitender alias Chotu, were arrested at the site. Both are residents of Ibrahimpur and are believed to be the key operators behind the illegal setup. During the operation, officers reportedly seized over 91,000 counterfeit ENO sachets, along with 80 kg of raw material, 13 kg of company-branded rolls, 54,780 stickers, 2,100 unfilled packets, and a packaging machine. With such an alarming pattern of counterfeit manufacturing units producing fake pharmaceuticals and health-related products across India, how can an ordinary person know if the ENO they are buying is the real one or a fake? If you are wondering the same, worry not, we have got you covered. According to ENO’s official site, the product is made up of Svarjiksara (Shudh) and Nimbukamlam (Shushkam), which neutralise stomach acid on contact and help relieve indigestion and gas. Chemically, it is a mixture of sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, and sodium carbonate. The fake one might not be consistent with this formula, may contain cheap, substandard ingredients that could be harmful, and may not dissolve quickly or taste different. Counterfeit antacids may contain harmful chemicals or incorrect dosages, leading to stomach irritation, acid reflux, or allergic reactions. How to tell if it’s a fake ENO? To identify a fake ENO, you can either check the packaging, MRP, or inspect the quality of the product itself, including its print, company name and logo. The real products have a clean, shiny packaging with clear branding. Counterfeits may have faint or blurred print. One can also see slight differences in the size of the original and duplicate pouches, with the latter being slightly smaller. Always check the manufacturing details, such as the manufacturer’s name, batch number, address, and price, before buying the product. If the details appear blurry, are incomplete, or are not mentioned, then that’s a fake one. Is there any price difference between fake ENO and the real one? While one sachet of the antacid, containing 5 gms of the product, retails at Rs 10 at medical shops, anything below it might be a warning sign. While any side effects of a fake ENO have not been reported yet, consuming a counterfeit product can cause stomach irritation, increased acidity, and even food poisoning. Such products are manufactured without quality testing and lack medical approval.

Methamphetamine from Pakistan’s Makran coast, diesel smuggled through Gwadar, and illegal weapons moving along the same sea lanes now blur the line between criminal enterprise and strategic coercion.In the western Indian Ocean, analysts increasingly describe this as a hybrid threat: illicit networks that generate profit, destabilise governance, and serve the strategic interests of state-aligned actors. The route that once carried Afghan heroin and Pakistani meth to the Gulf is now a multi-commodity corridor, moving everything from small arms to sanctioned oil under the cover of stateless fishing boats.The Makran–Gulf NexusThe hub of this ecosystem is Pakistan’s Makran coast, stretching from Jiwani past Gwadar to Ormara. UN and CMF data link hundreds of dhow journeys each year to that shoreline, departing unregistered coves and informal jetties. Some boats carry drugs; others move diesel or even passengers seeking illegal entry into Oman. The pattern is the same—small skiffs feed mother dhows that vanish into the sea without AIS beacons or registry.For local powerbrokers, these flows have become an alternate economy. Drug and fuel smuggling finances patronage networks tied to elements of the security establishment, while criminal brokers pay “taxes” for protection. A 2023 statement by Pakistan’s caretaker interior minister admitting that “certain officials” were involved in smuggling reflected what insiders already knew: enforcement and complicity coexist along the same pier.When Crime Becomes StrategyThis nexus doesn’t just enrich local actors—it serves geopolitical ends. By tolerating controlled levels of smuggling, Islamabad gains leverage over coastal populations and a tool of plausible deniability. The profits stabilise its littoral zones even as they undermine regional order. In effect, maritime crime becomes an instrument of managed disorder.The danger for neighbours is that proceeds from narcotics and diesel smuggling bleed into terror finance and militia logistics. Intercepts analysed by Indian agencies and Gulf partners show overlaps between narco-networks and insurgent facilitators in Balochistan. The same boats that run meth to Oman can ferry weapons or militants back on the return leg.India’s Intelligence PictureFor India, this fusion of illicit economies presents both a surveillance challenge and a strategic opportunity. The challenge lies in identifying which dhows are criminal, which are cover for other state-linked operations, and which are both. The opportunity lies in using transparency as deterrence.India’s Information Fusion Centre–Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) and IMAC now track patterns of vessel behaviour that combine narcotics, fuel smuggling, and grey shipping. When correlated with Coast Guard and Navy intercept data, these patterns reveal networks that ignore boundaries—part criminal, part political.Joint patrols with Sri Lanka and information-sharing with Gulf coastguards have already disrupted several Makran-to-Oman runs. Indian analysts say that exposing these supply chains publicly, rather than treating them as intelligence secrets, helps “raise reputational costs” for the states that shelter them.Hybrid Threats and Economics of DisorderUnlike conventional security threats, hybrid maritime crime thrives on ambiguity. Stateless dhows allow state actors to outsource risk: if caught, crews are prosecuted as smugglers, not soldiers. Their profits, however, sustain broader influence networks that reach into insurgent groups and local administrations.UNODC’s 2023 Southern Route study warned that drug trafficking in the Arabian Sea now overlaps with “armed group logistics” and “illicit fuel trading.” Western analysts compare the model to Iran’s use of front companies and smugglers to move oil under sanctions—a maritime shadow economy that doubles as geopolitical leverage. Pakistan’s own version is smaller but operates on the same logic: use the sea’s ambiguity to create financial and political flexibility.India’s Counter-Hybrid ResponseIndia’s counter-narcotics and surveillance initiatives—Sagar Manthan, Sea Guardian, and CMF participation—are designed to integrate intelligence, law enforcement, and diplomacy. The approach is to treat maritime crime not as episodic enforcement but as continuous counter-network work—legal, financial, and informational.Why This MattersHybrid maritime crime erodes more than coastal stability. It undermines the credibility of multilateral mechanisms like FATF and CMF when member states appear on both sides of enforcement. The October 2025 FATF warning that banned groups in Pakistan are using digital wallets and hidden transfers underscores how illicit maritime economies and financial evasion are parts of the same ecosystem.For India, documenting these linkages and pushing for region-wide transparency norms may prove more powerful than interdiction alone. Every verified boarding report, every public prosecution, chips away at the shadow markets that weaponise ambiguity.In the Indian Ocean, credibility is strategy—and the countries that can prove their enforcement will shape the rules for everyone else.

TVS Motor Co Q2 net profit rises 42 pc to Rs 833 cr

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) TVS Motor Company on Tuesday reported a 42 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 832.76 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2025, riding on robust vehicle sales. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 588.13 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, TVS Motor Company said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations in the second quarter stood at Rs 14,051.22 crore as against Rs 11,197.19 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Total expenses in the quarter under review were higher at Rs 12,801.67 crore as compared to Rs 10,332.19 crore in the same period last fiscal, the company said. Overall two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales, including international business, grew by 23 per cent, registering the highest ever quarterly sales of 15.07 lakh units in the second quarter over 12.28 lakh units in the year-ago period, TVS Motor Co said. Motorcycle sales grew by 20 per cent at 6.73 lakh units from 5.61 lakh units in the quarter ended September 2024. Scooter sales grew by 30 per cent at 6.39 lakh units as compared to 4.90 lakh units a year ago, it added. Two-wheeler sales in the international business grew by 31 per cent at 3.63 lakh units as against 2.78 lakh units in the quarter ended September 2024. Total three-wheeler sales for the quarter under review grew by 41 per cent at 53,000 units from 38,000 units in FY25, the company said. TVS Motor Co said electric vehicle (EV) sales grew by 7 per cent at 80,000 units — its highest ever quarterly sales — as against 75,000 units in the same quarter last fiscal. Sabarimala gold case: Accused Murari Babu sent to SIT custody for 4 days

Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Oct 28 (PTI) A Kerala court on Tuesday granted the custody of B Murari Babu, an accused in the case of gold loss from Sabarimala, to the SIT — which is probing the matter — for four days. A magisterial court granted his custody to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on its plea seeking the same. Babu, a former Devaswom administrative officer, is the second accused in the case related to the loss of gold from the ‘Dwarapalaka’ (guardian deity) idols and the sixth accused in the matter of gold loss from the sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) door frame. The main accused in both cases, Bengaluru-based businessman Unnikrishnan Potty, is currently in SIT custody which will end on October 30. The SIT had recently taken him to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for evidence collection and returned to Kerala on October 26 evening. Last week, the SIT searched the jewellery shop owned by Govardhan, who reportedly funded the gold-plating work of the temple’s sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) door frame, officially sponsored by Potty. Subsequently, searches were conducted at Potty’s residence in Srirampura, Bengaluru, and at the Smart Creation office in Chennai, where the electroplating of the gold-clad copper plates of the dwarapalaka (guardian deity) idols was carried out in 2019. The SIT reportedly seized several quantities of gold from the first two locations. Babu was arrested by the SIT last week. The SIT probe was ordered by the Kerala High Court after it found loss of gold from the gold-plated copper claddings of the Dwarapalaka idols when they were last sent for renovation to Chennai in 2019. Three cops injured in stone-pelting during arrest in Muzaffarnagar; two held

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Oct 28 (PTI) Three police personnel, including a woman constable, were injured when family members of an accused allegedly pelted stones at the police team that had gone to arrest him in an assault case, police said on Tuesday. Circle Officer Devvrat Bajpai said the incident occurred at Jadwad village on Monday when the police team went to arrest Omprakash, who had been absconding for a “long time”. As the team attempted to take him into custody, his wife and two daughters allegedly pelted stones, injuring Sub Inspector Dinesh Singh, Constable Manoj Kumar and woman head constable Anita. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing government work and assaulting public servants against Omprakash, his wife Babli and daughters Mansi and Bobby, the police said. NIIT Q2 profit falls 88 pc to Rs 1.37 crore; revenue rises 15.6 pc

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) Skills and talent development firm NIIT Ltd on Tuesday posted 88.4 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 1.37 crore for September quarter FY26, although revenues rose by 15.6 per cent. The firm had reported a profit (attributable to owners of the parent company) of Rs 11.8 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing. Revenue from operations in Q2 FY26 rose 15.6 per cent to Rs 104.94 crore from Rs 90.7 crore a year ago. Sequentially, the profit fell 68.6 per cent while revenues increased 24.7 per cent. The consumer business contributed 33 per cent to total revenue, growing 29 per cent year-on-year. The rest was contributed by the Enterprise business, which grew 10 per cent year-on-year. “Early investments in sales, product and platform development are seeing growth across both enterprise and consumer portfolios. This positive trajectory, along with robust order intake trends, gives us confidence to look forward to continued growth in the second half of the year,” NIIT CEO Pankaj Jathar said. The Finance Ministry has called for suggestions from trade and industry on tax rate changes and ease of compliance expected in the Union Budget for the 2026-27 fiscal to be presented on February 1, 2026. In a customary communication to trade and industry associations in the run-up to the Union Budget, the Revenue Department's Tax Research Unit has asked them to send their suggestions by November 10. Qatar finance minister says AI to be big part of US investments, UK-Gulf trade deal close

RIYADH :Qatar's finance minister said on Tuesday that artificial intelligence would be a big part of planned Qatari investments in the United States. "I would say most of the (QIA investment) will be in technology and AI because we see the growth in this field, and it is going to be rewarding," Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari said, speaking in Riyadh at the annual Future Investment Initiative conference. "Now we see the huge growth in the U.S. economy is coming from technology and AI and we believe this is one area we are going to focus on," he said. The Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, plans to at least double its annual U.S. investments in the next decade, its CEO said in May. The fund had already pledged to invest $500 billion in the U.S. economy over the next 10 years. Al-Kuwari also highlighted the importance of the sector for diversifying Qatar's own economy and reducing its dependence on hydrocarbon income. Speaking alongside his British counterpart Rachel Reeves, Kuwari said a trade agreement between the UK and the Gulf Cooperation Council was "almost done". Reeves said on Monday she was confident a trade deal with Gulf countries could be done quickly after she had "really good" meetings about an agreement that could help her plan to speed up economic growth.
