The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at Copenhagen University Hospital - Amager and Hvidovre, Department of Pulmonary Diseases and Endocrinology in the Capital Region.It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In order to be considered for the position, the applicant must send two applications: one to the Faculty (the professorship) and one to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the consultancy. This also applies to applicants who are already employed as consultants at the Hospital. Please find the advertisement for the consultancy here.Both the professorship and the consultancy will be financed by Copenhagen University Hospital – Amager and Hvidovre.Find information about the department.Job DescriptionIn the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Internal medicine: Endocrinology.The Professor’s Responsibilities Will Primarily Consist OfResearch, including publication/academic dissemination Publication/academic dissemination within the field of Endocrinology with a special focus on management of obesity including non-pharmacological, pharmacological, and surgical interventions. Research would likely include physiological/mechanistic studies to identify novel targets for obesity management, intervention trials aimed at testing the benefits and harms of novel treatments or intervention programs, and pragmatic implementation studies conducted in collaboration with external partners e.g., in primary care. The candidate should also support ongoing international research collaborations and further develop the department’s international research profile within the field.Research-based teaching, including associated examination The candidate should take a leading role in the department’s pre-graduate teaching activities of medical students and take responsibility in the associated examination of medical students in collaboration with the department’s associate professors. The candidate should also take responsibility for supervision of bachelor and master students.Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers The candidate should take a leading role in the department’s Endocrine research unit that includes senior researchers, a senior project manager, a trial manager, a research nurse, a lab technician, as well as several PhD students, research assistants and research year students.
