Driven by creativity and inspired by the future, we set out every day to reframe the possible.About The RoleThe Environment Generalist will be responsible for creating photo-real digital environments for high end visual effects shots through the use of 3D CGI techniques which include: modeling, procedural geometry and scene assemblies, texturing, shading and lookdev, lighting, rendering and matte painting.What you’ll do:Create photo-realistic digital matte paintings, textures and models or collaborating with specialists in those disciplines as requiredAssemble models, digital matte paintings, textures, projections and lights into a CG scene for renderingTroubleshoot technical issues with the CG scene and optimising the renders to work within the resources availableWork with a shot Compositor to assemble renders and projections in a compositing applicationWork to develop the look of a shot, assets or sequence with the Visual Effects and CG SupervisorsLighting and scene assembly for other shots or assets as required, including characters and animationIdentify the best approach for matching the quality of the plate photographyCommunicate with production on a regular basis in regards to schedules and deadlinesWork in partnership with other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standardWhat we’re looking for:3-5 years full time work experience will substitute formal qualifications if none are availableAt least 4 years previous experience working in a film VFX pipeline3D Generalist skillsStrong knowledge of Photoshop, NukeStrong knowledge of Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, Mari or other comparable DCC packagesModeling, UV layout and texturing skillsLook development and Lighting with emphasis on environment scenesA strong understanding of the entire VFX processGood communication and organisational skillsCreative problem solving abilitiesExcellent attention to detailAble to take direction well and work as part of a teamAble to work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality resultsYou might also have:Experience with a wide range of generalist software used to create digital environments and matte paintingsPrevious experience with 2.5 D workflowArtistic skills in digital matte paintingExperience with volumetric rendering for clouds and atmosphereA traditional arts background with an emphasis on photo-realism and environmentsPrevious experience working on a computer with the Linux operating systemAn understanding of cutting edge technology in the field such as photogrammetry and photo based 3D reconstructionApplication ProcessTo apply, please complete the linked application form or submit your resume and portfolio to recruiters@framestore.com with the subject line: 3D Environment Generalist - Melbourne.Framestore is an equal opportunity employer.
