The Academy for Teaching and Learning is seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our faculty team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on medical students by enhancing their academic success and clinical reasoning skills.What You’ll DoAs an integral part of our academic support team, you will:Coach Students One-on-One: Guide students through personalized academic coaching to identify challenges, assess strengths, and develop actionable plans for success.Facilitate Learning Sessions: Lead individual and small group sessions focused on critical thinking and clinical reasoning in the medical sciences.Enhance Reasoning Skills: Use inquiry-based learning and exploratory dialogue to strengthen students’ critical reasoning and integration of basic science concepts.Boost Academic Literacy: Provide targeted interventions to improve academic literacy and clinical reasoning.Teach Study Strategies: Deliver tailored training in study and test-taking skills, with a focus on medical education and multiple-choice exam preparation.Develop Assessments: Design formative assessments that support cognitive skill development.Create Learning Resources: Collaborate with faculty to develop innovative teaching materials.Support Holistic Development: Partner with student affairs and counseling to promote overall student well-being.Advance Medical Education: Participate in research on the effectiveness of academic interventions.Contribute to the Institution: Engage in additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Executive Dean.Uphold Standards: Adhere to all institutional policies and professional standards.Why Join Us?This is more than a job—it’s a chance to shape the future of healthcare by empowering students to thrive academically and professionally. Ideal candidates will bring a blend of academic expertise, teaching experience, and a collaborative spirit.Required QualificationsEducation:Terminal degree in Medicine (MD or DO preferred), or in Education (EdD or PhD) with experience supporting medical students.Experience:3–5 years working with adult learners in STEM at the graduate level; medical education experience strongly preferred.Proven success in teaching both large and small groups.Demonstrated effectiveness in mentoring or academic coaching.Skills & Knowledge:Strong foundation in logic, critical analysis, and preferably basic sciences or medical training.Understanding of educational theory and the psychology of learning.Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.Strong interpersonal skills and a student-centered approach.Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in medical education.Familiarity with teaching methods, materials, and technologies used in postsecondary and medical education.Preferred QualificationsPrior teaching experience at a North American or Caribbean medical school.Experience developing online courses or learning products.Familiarity with USMLE Step 1 exam preparation.Knowledge of psychology, counseling, and the needs of students with disabilities.Experience integrating emotional intelligence, brain-based science, and cognitive development into student programming.Experience working with English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.Background in Student Affairs or designing academic interventions from pre-matriculation to graduation.Ongoing faculty development in medical education.Comfort with educational technologies, including LMS platforms, online exams, videoconferencing, and audience response systems.Additional InformationPlease include cover letter when submitting applicationEqual Opportunity – Minority / Female / Disability / V / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation
