About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi The Fixed Income Analyst is responsible for supporting key investment functions across Fixed Income team. The role involves providing analytical and operational support to the Fixed Interest Strategist, as well as backup support to the Foreign Exchange & Rates Dealer.
The former includes assisting the Fixed Interest Strategist in producing original research that impacts fixed interest and currencies in order to generate trade recommendations whilst the latter includes such functions as trading for ACC's money market portfolios, foreign exchange hedging, collateral management and repo. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the interpretation of risk and performance monitoring tools and supporting the development and maintenance of economic and investment models. These tools are integral to the team's investment decision-making processes.
Over time, this role is expected to broaden, offering the opportunity to take on more responsibilities across fixed income and currency management, including portfolio management duties. This is a permanent role, based in Auckland. Please note that there will be an initial period of regular (likely fortnightly) travel to Wellington for training purposes, following which travel will be required but on a less frequent basis. About you | Mōu It's likely that you will have approximately 10 years' experience in financial markets, possibly from within a strategy or portfolio management role. We're looking for: Experience in and/or knowledge of foreign exchange markets, money markets and rates markets. An excellent understanding of financial markets. Excellent investment judgement. Excellent numeracy and analytical ability. Excellent spreadsheeting skills. A thorough understanding of macroeconomics. A relevant tertiary qualification (possibly including advanced papers in finance, and/or a CFA qualification or working towards such). Ability to think independently. Excellent numeric skills (possibly advanced quantitative skills).
Good interpersonal and relationship building skills. Excellent negotiating skills. Experience in the use of Bloomberg, Macrobond and/or other information and data systems. A working knowledge of databases and programming would be advantageous.
