We are seeking a talented individual who is looking to build on their existing accounting experience and expand their career horizons within the accounting field.About the role | Ko te mahi neiAs a member of our team, you will work in a stimulating environment that provides challenge, job satisfaction and excellent opportunities for learning, development and career advancement.You will be part of the Financial Accounting Team that provides tax, reporting and technical accounting support to Council. You will be responsible for the preparation of Council's GST return; preparation of other returns for Council; providing accounting support for a Council Controlled Organisation, and assisting the financial accounting team leader in the maintenance of Council's general ledger and the delivery of Council's annual report. You'll work closely with other finance teams and other departments within Council.About you | Ko Koe TēneTo Be Successful In This Role You Will HaveA Chartered Accountant qualification (CA ANZ) or equivalent (e.g. CPA, ACCA) or currently working towards such a qualification.At least three years' practical accounting experience in a large organisation, or in a professional accounting firm undertaking business advisory (BAS), audit, or tax engagements.A sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards.Experience using accounting packages, ideally SAP and/or smaller systems such as Xero.Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.What's in it for you?
