Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our existing team. You’ll play a key role in managing a portfolio of PAYG and SME clients, providing high-quality accounting and tax solutions with a strong advisory focus. This role suits someone who enjoys working closely with clients, takes pride in accuracy and communication, and wants to be part of a collaborative, relationship-driven environment rather than a high-volume, transactional practice. This is a full-time, on-site role for an Accountant based in South East Melbourne.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.Manage PAYG clients, including tax planning, investment structure reviews, and compliance.Handle small to medium business clients — including BAS, GST, payroll, and management reporting.Provide Accounting advice to our extensive database in line with the key areas of specialised advice we offer at LakesideProvide proactive tax and business advice to help clients optimise their financial outcomes.Collaborate with our Risk Advisers, Financial Planning, Legal and Mortgage Advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions.Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and value-added insights.Stay current on taxation, superannuation, and business compliance changes to ensure best-practice advice.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CA qualification is preferred. Proficiency in financial accounting, bookkeeping, and preparation of financial statements.Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.Expertise in tax compliance, regulatory filings, and financial audits.Experience with accounting software and tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks).Effective communication and interpersonal skills to advise clients and collaborate with team members.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in financial contexts.Experience in the financial services industry is an asset.
