Senior Accounts Payable SpecialistCompany: Canadian Food Terminal (Office Environment)Location: The Queensway, Etobicoke, M8Y 1H8Department: Finance & AccountingWork Type: On-site, Monday–FridayHours: 7 am–3 pm or 8 am–4 pmCompensation: Salary + Benefits + Vacation + Company BonusesEmployment Type: Full TimeAbout the RoleCanadian Food Terminal is seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage our full-cycle AP operations. You will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within our fast-paced wholesale and produce environment. This position also provides leadership support to junior team members.Key ResponsibilitiesInvoice Management & Payment ProcessingReview, verify, and process high-volume vendor invoices.Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to resolve discrepancies.Execute payment runs in line with company policies and supplier terms.Vendor Relations & Account ManagementMaintain strong vendor relationships and resolve billing/payment issues.Oversee vendor account reconciliations and documentation.Support vendor onboarding and maintain accurate master data.Reconciliation & ReportingComplete monthly vendor and general ledger reconciliations.Prepare aging reports, accruals, and AP financial analyses for management.Compliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and audit requirements.Maintain accurate documentation for internal and external audits.Identify and mitigate risks within AP processes.Process Improvement & LeadershipReview and refine AP workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency.Train and mentor junior staff on procedures and best practices.Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and finance teams to streamline processes.Cash Flow & Expense ManagementMonitor weekly/monthly cash requirements for payment runs.Provide AP insights to support budgeting and forecasting.Key QualificationsEducation: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Experience: 7+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or related experience.Industry Experience: Experience in fruit/produce or wholesale distribution is an asset.Technical Skills:Strong proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, MS Dynamics, QuickBooks, etc.)Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilitiesProfessional Attributes:Strong understanding of AP controls, reconciliations, and financial reportingExperience managing complex accounts and large vendor portfoliosExcellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
